Chapter 1 - Introduction.

- 1.1 - QDLIST Program Description.

- QDLIST is a file viewer, compatable with all ASCII text
files.

- QDLIST, although not as powerful as the Vernon Burg's
LIST.COM, provides you with a simple method for viewing
both small and large files.

- Find text within a file using 'FIND' and 'NEXT' functions.

- Scroll thru a file line by line, page by page, or go to
the top or bottom of a file.

- QDLIST is a free add on to the QuickDir Program. It is
not shareware as such, but registered users will receive
QDLIST without QuickDir registration reminders.

- Use QDLIST standalone for full screen viewing of files.

- QDLIST is included in QuickDir Shareware distribution.

- Shareware is a marketing system which lets a user
evaluate copyright software before purchasing it.

Chapter 2 - Using QDLIST.


- 2.1 - Using QDLIST at DOS Prompt.


- Although QDLIST was intended for use as an external
QuickDir file viewer, you may use it from the DOS prompt.

- Enter: QDLIST C:\PATH\FILENAME.EXT at the DOS prompt

- OR Enter: QDLIST (With nothing following) and enter the
path and filename in the input request box.


- 2.2 - Scrolling Keys.

- An important part of any file view is the ability to
move back and forth within the file.

- These keys control movement:

- ENTER KEY: Next Page.
- PAGE DOWN: Next Page.
- PAGE UP: Previous Page.
- HOME KEY: Top of File.
- END KEY: Bottom of File
- Down Cursor Arrow Key: One line down.
- Up Cursor Arrow Key: One line UP.
- Left Cursor Arrow Key: Move 8 Characters to the Left.
- Right Cursor Arrow Key: Move 8 Characters to the Right.

- 2.3 - Program Control Keys.

- Use ESCAPE, Q or X to EXIT program.
- Use F1 to display help screen.

- 2.4 - Using Find and Next.

- The ability to find a string in any position is
the essential part of any list utility.

- Use keys 'F' for Find, or 'N' for Next, in this way:

- 'F' for Find must be performed first.
- QDLIST will find the next matching text searching
from the top line of the display to the end of file.
- Make sure the file is 'HOME' to find every occurance.
- Use 'N' to find the 'Next' string.
- Next is functionally identical to 'find', but does not
display or allow changes to the find string.
- Matching text is displayed on a green background.
