Copy the file MCAT100H.ZIP to the directory of your choice. Uncompress it!
The program will decompress the necessary files to your hard disk. Now run:
CATFREE.EXE. This will create the remaining files and indexes upon startup
and set the initial configuration. Other configuration will also be performed
during the first run but is internally editable. Note that the documentation
now contains page references and is formatted for 66 lines per page with
imbedded form-feeds.

The *'s in the CATALOG.DOC file are flags to show what has been added since
the February 13, '92 alpha release. This release simply added the Report
Menu (moving the FMS Report option) and including the ability to list two
other reports. BTW, if you have the DOS PRINT spooler loaded, the report
options (printing) will take advantage of it. Try it!

** NOTE **
F4 has been added as a DOS shell capability. That means the F4 to
display a list of files in Catalog browse is changed. It is now F5.

P.S. There is a lot more to come, so stay tuned! If you want to see a
feature or need something to be a little more flexible just ask. There
are about 5 other modules already written just waiting to be added! I
want MEGACAT to be THE BEST disk catalogger around.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read:
