TITLE : SHARING VIOLATIONS
The error message "Sharing violation error accessing Paradox"
occurs due to a sharing violation from the network, as opposed to
a sharing violation within Paradox. This occurs most commonly on
Banyan Vines and Lantastic networks. In order to prevent this
error (and to safeguard the Paradox system files), change the
attributes of the Paradox system files to Read Only by using the
DOS ATTRIB command. Have the network administrator do the
following:
1. Be sure no users are currently using Paradox.
2. Change directory to where PARADOX.EXE is located.
3. Type ATTRIB +R *.* and press
4. Type ATTRIB -R PARADOX.SOM and press
This will not only prevent the sharing violation problem, but
will also protect the Paradox system files from accidental
deletion. The PARADOX.SOM should have read/write capabilities in
the event that more user counts are added in the future.
