TITLE : Rebuilding PAL and Personal Programmer Libraries

Rebuilding an applications libraries resolves the case where you
have modified application scripts, but your changes do not show
up when you play the application. It also resolves the message
"Unknown Object Type" in PAL or Personal Programmer applications.

When making changes to procedures in PAL or Personal Programmer
scripts, they will not be reflected in your application until the
procedure libraries rebuilt. In a Personal Programmer
application, the steps listed below allow you to regenerate an
application's libraries. In a PAL application, rebuilding an
application libraries is dependent on the application. A PAL
script that rebuilds a library contains CREATELIB and WRITELIB
commands. Check the application's documentation or with the
application's programmer to determine which script or scripts
rebuild the application's library.

In the course of modifying and running a PAL or Personal
Programmer applications, sometimes the application libraries can
become damaged. "Unexpected Condition: Unknown Object Type" is a
common error message that signals the PAL or Personal Programmer
application's libraries have been damaged. Rebuilding the
application's libraries solves this problem.

Listed below are the steps necessary to rebuild Personal
Programmer Libraries.

1. Start Paradox.

2. Select {Tools} {More} {Directory} from the menu.

3. When prompted, type in the directory where your
application is located.

4. Select {Scripts} {Play} from the menu.

5. When prompted for the script name, type in the following:

appnamelib

Where "appname" is the name of your application.

For example, if your application was called "video", you would
play the "videolib" script to rebuild the application libraries.

TITLE : Rebuilding PAL and Personal Programmer Libraries

The script that rebuilds the Personal Programmer application
libraries is just one of the Utility scripts that are included
with the Personal Programmer. Consult Appendix C of the Paradox
3.5 Personal Programmer Guide for information about the other
scripts that are included with the Personal Programmer.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
