SC-EDIT is a full featured high performance Paradox Script Editor
which can be used both within and outside of Paradox. The indus-
try standard editor command set is provided for experienced
"power" users, along with easy to use menu driven commands for
those who prefer menus. Full two and three button mouse support
is also provided, along with full editor HELP facilities.
SC-EDIT is distributed as Shareware - it is not a free (or Free-
ware) program. You may use this trial copy for up to twenty one
days. If after that time, you would like to continue using
SC-EDIT, you must order a registered copy of the product. See
Ordering Information at the end of this file for prices, etc.
You may distribute single copies of the SCEDITZ.EXE distribution
file to anyone as long as no free is charged.
NOTE: THE FILE SCEDIT.EXE AND/OR REGISTERED COPIES OF SC-EDIT
MAY NOT BE DISTRIBUTED IN ANY FORM.
SC-EDIT is usually distributed on bulletin boards as a self
extracting archive file, SCEDITZ.EXE (note: the exact filename
may differ from board to board). To extract SC-EDIT. just exe-
cute the self extracting archive program (SCEDITZ in this exam-
ple). This will create two files:
SCEDIT.EXE - This is the editor program.
README - This is the file you are currently reading.
To complete the installation, copy SCEDIT.EXE to a directory
which is referenced in a DOS "PATH" command. A good candidate is
the Paradox directory (PDOX35 or PARADOX3, depending on which
version of Paradox you are using). After installation is com-
plete, the distribution file SCEDITZ.EXE is no longer required
and may be deleted.
SC-EDIT from DOS
SC-EDIT can be run from the DOS command line by entering:
from the DOS command line. is the name of the file you
wish to edit. If no extension is entered, the default of .SC will
be used. If a file name of *.ext is entered, a directory listing
of all files with the extension .ext will be presented.
The option -Mono may be entered after if you are using a
monochrome monitor with a color display, and parts of the editor
screen can not be seen.
If you have an EGA or VGA monitor, the option -Big may be entered
to operate the editor in 43/50 line mode.
Note: When used form the DOS command line, F5-GO will execute the
SC-EDIT from Paradox
SC-EDIT can be run from within Paradox by specifying SC-EDIT as
the default editor to Paradox. This is done using the Custom
configuration script. See the appropriate Paradox manual for
instructions on starting the Custom script. In most cases, you
need to change to the appropriate directory containing Paradox,
then enter PARADOX CUSTOM (or PARADOX3 CUSTOM).
Once the Custom script has started, select PAL/EDITOR from the
menu. Then enter the following string into the "Editor:" field:
!SCEDIT * ** -Paradox
then press Enter/Return/Do_it! to update the configuration file.
Note: Make sure to enter the string exactly as shown above,
taking care that the leading "!" and all of the spaces are in the

space, after -Paradox if desired:
-Mono - This option is needed if you are using a monochrome

-Big - This will operate the editor in 43/50 line mode on
systems using EGA and VGA monitors.
For example, to operate SC-EDIT in 43/50 line mode enter:
!SCEDIT * ** -Paradox -Big
To remove SC-EDIT as the default editor, enter the Custom config-
uration script as about, except blank out the "Editor:" field.
