Desktop - A desktop picture/screen saver program for OS/2 Presentation Manager.
Invocation: DESKTOP [
[ [MELT]]]
is the name of a bitmap or GIF file (.BMP or .GIF extension) that will
be used as the desktop picture, or the path of a directory. If a
directory, one of the first 16 bitmap or GIF files will be chosen
at random. If is '*', no desktop picture will be used. Default
is the root directory.
is the duration of inactivity (in seconds) before the screen saver
is activated. Zero disables the screen saver. Default is 5 minutes.
'MELT' instructs the screen saver to slowly dissolve the screen instead of
clearing it instantly.
When the desktop has the focus, 'F' will bring the picture forward and
another 'F' or a mouse movement will return it to the background. 'D' will
disable the screen saver, 'E' will re-enable the screen saver. If the mouse
pointer is placed in the upper right corner, the screen saver will be
activated immediately. If the mouse pointer is placed in the lower right
corner, the screen saver will never be activated.
To install, place DESKTOP.EXE in your path, DESKTOP.DLL in your libpath.
Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
