I have tested it on several computers and found that found that it works
well on all of them. All computers have been running LANtastic(tm) NOS v3.03
and above and all running MS DOS 3.3 and above.

Reconnect is a small program that automatically re-established network
connections. There are no command line options. Run reconect from a
batch file or from the command line.

Why reconect? A big complaint is that LANtastic will not automatically
reestablish network connections if a server is rebooted. Most work arounds
for this involve accessing a network resource and then then answering R
to the Abort Retry Fail message dos generates. Occasionally a user will
install a critical error handler that runs as a tsr that will automatically
issue a retry after an specified time period.

Reconect is designed to run from a batch file, does not require outside
intervention. And will reestablish all connections, even if you do not
know that then have been lost.

One case for it's use is to insure that a netowrk connection is in place
a timed event. Ie if you back up your system at midnight each night, you
could run reconect as the first command to make sure that the drives are
still redirected.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
