Thank you for purchasing the Thunder Board! We hope you use it often and
enjoy it with your favorite games and applications. However, please take
a few minutes and read this entire text file before attempting to use any
of the software that we have included with the Thunder Board.

In addition to the Thunder Master sound editor software, we have included
a number of utility programs on your installation diskette that we believe
you will find useful and helpful. They are:

1,TBTEST.EXE

This program performs diagnostics on your Thunder Board to ensure
its correct installation. It will report to the screen any error
conditions it senses during program execution. The possible error
conditions include:

(0010)Thunder Board I/O Error. Hardware Not Found!

a, This problem will occur if the Thunder Board is not
properly seated in its slot. Check the Thunder Board
to be sure it is squarely and evenly seated, and be sure
the Thunder Board bracket is securely fastened with a
bracket screw.

b, It is also possible that the I/O address being used by
the Thunder Board conflicts with another device in your
system. Refer to the hardware installation guide for
instructions on how to idenify and set the I/O address
for the Thunder Board.

(0020)Different Hardware Found. Thunder Board Not Detected!

(0031)Unable to identify the IRQ generated from the Thunder Board!

This condition will occur if the jumpers used to set the IRQ
for the Thunder Board are not correctly set. Check your
Thunder Board to be sure that the shunts are squarely seated
on the jumper that corresponds to the IRQ that you would like
to use.

(0032)Unable to identify the IRQ generated from the Thunder Board!

This condition will occur when the IRQ setting being used by
the Thunder Board conflicts with another device in your
system. Refer to the hardware installation guide for
further instructions on how to modify or set the IRQ for
the Thunder Board.

(0041)Unable to perform DMA transfers to/from the Thunder Board!

This condition will only occur if the DMA circuitry used for
transferring data and from the Thunder Board has failed. If
this error message is displayedcontact your authorized
Thunder Board dealer, or Media Vision Technical Support
at (415) 770-9905.

2,SETVOL.EXE

Run this program to set or modify the volume level of your audio
output. SETVOL.EXE It is designed to produce a continuous audible
tone to help you adjust the volume using the thumbwheel on the back
of the Thunder Board.

SETVOL.EXE contains self guiding instructions for its use. However,
if you have difficulty in using this program, check the audio cable
connections between the Thunder Board and your external speakers.
It is also possible that the FM synthesis circuit has been disabled.
Refer to the hardware installation guide for instructions on how
to determine whether this circuitry is currently enabled or
disabled. The installation guide also contains information for
modifying the switch settings to enable the FM synthesis circuitry.

3,RECFILE.EXE

To Use: DOS>RECFILE [FILE.xxx] [C] [Ix] [Rxx] [Vxxx] [V+xxx]

Where: [FILE.WAV] to record into the .WAV format (Microsoft compatible)
[FILE.VOC] to record into the .VOC format (SoundBlaster compatible)

[C] to record with 2-to-1 compression

[Ix] sets the IRQ channel number (2,3,5,7)

[Rxxxxx] is the sample rate (6000 to 22050)

[Vxxx] record only Voice activated levels (periods of
silence will not be recorded)

xxx is in the range of 0-127. A lower number
makes recfile more sensitive to sound input; a
higher number has the opposite effect

[V+xxx] record all when Voice activated at threshold (once
recording begins all sounds are recorded, including
periods of silence)

xxx is in the range of 0-127. A lower number
makes the threshold value more sensitive to sound;
a higher number has the opposite effect

4,PLAYFILE.EXE

To Use: DOS>PLAYFILE [FILE.xxx] [C] [Ix] [Rxx] [S] [Sxxx]

Where: [FILE.WAV] to play a .WAV format file (Microsoft compatible)
[FILE.VOC] to play a .VOC format file (SoundBlaster compatible)

[C] to record with 2-to-1 compression

[Ix] sets the IRQ channel number (2,3,5,7)

[Rxxxxx] is the sample rate (6000 to 22050)

[S] specifies stereo playback

[Sxxx] changes the playback speed by xxx percent
(0 to 200)
