NOTHRU is one of the most simple programs I have ever seen. It
does what it's supposed to, though. If you have a MIDI interface
which, upon power-up, goes into a mode where MIDI IN is echoed to
MIDI OUT, when you try to play your synthesizer while the computer
is on, you get weird things going on due to the almost-simultaneous
reception of twin messages by the synthesizer. Just run NOTHRU if
you want to play your synth but not turn off your computer. This
program is very scrappy, but it works. I plan a future version to
allow NOTHRU to remain resident, so-to-speak, by leaving the MIDI
card in non-echoing mode after the program is exited. NOTHRU is
writen using the MusicQuest MIDI Toolbox for Turbo Pascal.
