Welcome to Digital Audio Sound Compressor version 1.0 10/22/94

Digital Audio Sound Compressor 1.0 (DASCMP/DASEXP) are
programs that allow you to compress (and decompress) .WAV and
raw sound files.

This README file contains important, last minute information.
If you have a printer, please print and read the documentation
file DASCMP.DOC.

This program has been tested on the following:

- a 33MH 486 running DOS 6.0 with a Sound Blaster 16.
- a 25MH 386DX running MSDOS 3.3 with an AdLib.
- a 16MH 386SX running MSDOS 3.3 and PCDOS 2.1 with a
Sound Blaster 1.5 and a Disney Sound Source
- a 12MH 286 runing MSDOS 6.2 with a Sound Blaster Pro

We suggest you load this program to your hard disk. Digital
audio files can get very large, and loading them (and this
program) to your hard disk will improve performance.

We are extremely interested in your constructive comments
and suggestions. Feedback from users, even negative
feedback, helps us to improve our game products. We thank
you for your interest in TAG SOFTWARE products.

INSTALLATION

DASCMP should be executable directly from the floppy disk.
We suggest that you make a backup copy, using your favorite
disk duplication program. We strongly suggest that you
install DASCMP on your hard disk. Performance is affected by
floppy drive throughput.

EXECUTING DASCMP FROM A FLOPPY:

1) Insert the floppy disk containing DASCMP into a floppy
disk drive. If this drive is the "B" drive then use "B:"
instead of "A:" in the remaining steps.

2) At the DOS prompt type:

A:
DASCMP BING.WAV TEMP.DAS

3) On the screen you should see the following:

At first you will see:

Digital Audio Compressor version 1.0
COPYRIGHT (c) 1993 by Allen & Carole Grider
Shareware version - Continued use requires registration
Progress: XX% ratio YY%

Where XX is the percent of progress compressing the source
file and YY is the compression ratio so far. Finally you will
see:

Digital Audio Compressor version 1.0
COPYRIGHT (c) 1993 by Allen & Carole Grider
Shareware version - Continued use requires registration
Compressed: ZZ%

Where ZZ is the final compression ratio.

Note that we have included 1 very good sound file. You can
use DASCMP to compress any digital sound files you may have.
If you don't have any, see our catalog (CATALOG.DOC). We
have a large selection that we can supply at a nominal price.
And, when you register you get one FREE disk from our Digital
Audio Collection Series as part of your registration bonus.

INSTALLATION TO HARD DISK:

If you have received your copy of DASCMP 1.0 from a disk
or rack vendor, they may have included an installation
program. If so, then follow the directions supplied therein.
Otherwise, follow these directions.

1) Insert the floppy disk containing DASCMP into the
floppy disk drive. If this drive is the "B" drive, use
"B:" instead of "A:" in the remaining steps.

2) You should create a directory on your hard disk. We
suggest DASCMP as its name. It can be on any of your
DOS disks. These procedures assume that you will install
DASCMP on your C: disk. If you wish to install it on
another of your disks, substitute that disk for C: in the
rest of these steps. Type the following to create the
directory.

C:
CD \
MKDIR DASCMP
CD DASCMP

3) Copy the contents of the floppy disk into the directory you
just created on your hard disk.

COPY A:*.*

4) Digital Sound Compressor 1.0 is now installed on your hard
disk. To complete the installation, print out the DASCMP.DOC
and REGISTER.DOC files.

5) At the DOS prompt type:

DASCMP BING.WAV TEMP.DAS

6) On the screen you should see the following:

At first you will see:

hard disk. Print out the DASCMP.DOC and REGISTER.DOC
files. Remember that this program is shareware. If you
continue to use it, you are required to register it.

2) Change to the directory that you copied DASCMP to in
the step above. Type:

DASCMP BING.WAV TEMP.DAS

3) On the screen you should see the following:

At first you will see:
