EDI Install v1.2
This version changes the way the compression mechanism works.
When you compress a file, the name is changed by adding a "$"
(dollar sign) to the extension. The real name is stored in
the file. When you install it or use UNPACK, the real name
is extracted and used for the creation of the new file.
You must specify the name of the compressed file (with the $)
in the [FILES] section, not the original name.
We have also improved the Program Manager Group section to
allow the specification of alternate icon files and icon
index positions. This is specially important for users of
products that require a "run-time" program to run their
applications. As well, you will notice that we now allow
the user of changing the name of the PM group to something
else.* This can be used to add the new items to an existing
group, simply by typing in the name of an old group.
Although we are working on version 2.0, we have had to put
it aside for a while. We expect it to be completed some
time in early March. As well, you can look forward to a DOS
version coming out within the next few weeks.
*If you do not like this feature, you may edit the dialog
box with a resource editor and remove the edit control.
Please see the SWITCHER, FILEAPP and WINCLI directories for
bonus programs included with EDI Install.
Switcher is free of charge! WinCLI and FileApp are share-
ware product that you may try for 21 days, and if you like
them you may register. You may also choose to purchase or
upgrade to WinCLI Pro from either WinCLI 3.00, FileApp or
EDI Install. Call us for details.
Please use Windows Write to view INSTALL.WRI, the manual
for EDI Install.
*** NOTE: Users of the demo version should note that we have
added a new section to the INSTALL.INF file. Please
check the [Windows Files] section in the manual for
more information. This section is of particular
importance to users who want files copied to the
Windows directory, such as vbrun100.dll or bwcc.dll.
