7 _ : Ð Ð Ð Ð Ð Ð Ð Ò Ò Ò Ò Ò Ò ð 4 $ L ð ó ð ð PUMP_C7, PUMP_BC3, PUMP_MFC, and PUMP_OWL: Compare Applications Based on C++ and MFC Versus C Using the SDK
PUMP_C7, PUMP_BC3, PUMP_MFC, and PUMP_OWL compare the message rates for straight C/SDK implementations (PUMP_C7 and PUMP_BC3) with a C/C++ 7.0/MFC implementation (PUMP_MFC) and a BC++ 3.1/OWL implementation (PUMP_OWL).
PUMP_C7 represents Microsoft(R) C/C++ version 7.0 and PUMP_BC3 represents Borland(R) C++ version 3.1.
In each of the four samples, the queued message rate is found by calling PostMessage 10,000 times. The nonqueued rate is found by calling SendMessage 10,000 times.
Results show that the C/SDK approach is about twice as fast as the C++/MFC/OWL approach.
PUMP_C7, PUMP_BC3, PUMP_MFC, and PUMP_OWL are companion applications for "C/C++ Q & A" by Bob Chiverton (Microsoft Systems Journal, Vol. 7, No. 5). The source code for these applications has not been modified or tested for the Microsoft Developer Network CD. The source files may appear in various forms (source code only, ready to build, or ready to run).
