SPOTLIGHT - The Wall BBS - Santa Ana, CA - Bill McIlrath, Sysop
714-775-4974
If you like graphics and on-line games, then this is the place. Bill has a
lot of fun with his BBS and you see it the moment you log on. Bill is an
expert in using "doors" with Wildcat! and has many downloadable "doors"
games in his file library. He offers full access on the first call and
charges no fees. Well worth a visit.

Anybody remember the "Pink Pearl"
An acquaintance mentioned the other day some mysterious goings-on in his
hard drive. He would occasionally get some "trash" in his files and
sometime files would just disappear altogether.
Giving some thought to his problem, I remembered the "Pink Pearl" cure for
similar problems on the old Radio Shack Model One. It seems that Radio
Shack skimped on the gold on the card edge connectors when they built that
excellent stab at the "home" computer market, to keep the price down. When
my data started disappearing I called the Radio Shack toll-free technical
assistance line (how many companies offer that now) and was told to go out
to an office supply store and buy a "Pink Pearl" eraser and clean the card
edge connectors with it. The "Pink Pearl" is just an ordinary hard block
of rubber and any similar kind would probably do the trick but I was
intrigued by the name. A brisk erasing job on both sides of the card edge
cured the problem for about a month. Another good cleaning gave another
thirty days of good service.
My friend looked a little dubious when I suggested this cure but he tried
it and it worked. Seems like Radio Shack isn't the only one that skimped
on the gold.

Another plug for subscribing to BBSTN.....
To our knowledge, there isn't any other publication offering the wealth of
information for BBSers found in BBSTN. The low price of $12 per year is
less than half of the regular subscription price charged by other
magazines, yet they don't offer information aimed directly at BBSers and
Sysops. Obviously, due to printing and distributing costs, we won't be
able to hold the line on our low $12 per year price. Take advantage of
this low price now and send your check for $12 to BBS Telecomputing News, 5
Wilkins Drive, Winchester, VA, 22601.

Coming next month...... more articles, more reviews, more writers. Be sure
to watch for BBSTN on this fine BBS.
Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
