Lotus 123 Self Tests
by Steve Bruhn

These Lotus 123 spreadsheets were developed for a course at
The Career Institute in Long Beach, California.

They were designed to be fun to use and help develop the
most basic spreadsheet skills that are needed in the REAL world,
such as moving/copying data, formatting cells, writing formulas,
and finding and correcting errors quickly.

-SELFTST1.WK1 is very basic, and a good exercise for beginners.
-SELFTST2.WK1 includes writing formulas and correcting common
mistakes.
-SELFTST3.WK1 requires more experience and reflects the kind of
problems the local PC support person might be
called to analyze.

I have found the most success with beginners by having them
put books and exercises away and working with just the computer
until they develop a frame of reference. Slow starters will
benefit greatly by doing SELFTST1 over and over and concentrating
on just what is on the screen. Try it, it works!

SELFTST3 is a good exercise to give show-offs who you want
to keep busy for a while. It will stump almost everyone.

You are free to distribute them and use them in your own
classroom or place of business if you register. Please keep this
TXT file with the set when making copies. Registered parties
will receive more as available, and hints to SELFTST3 if you get
stumped. Register by sending $10 to:
