123-LOCK
Version 2.3
produced by Softsmith Enterprises
tm
(c) 1987 All Rights Reserved

(versions of this product prior to 2.2 were not published)

This product ISN'T copy-protected. The spreadsheet has been
restricted from direct access only to insure there is always
an unaltered copy of the facility for backup and distribution.
PLEASE DON'T ATTEMPT TO RESAVE THE SPREADSHEET FILE!
(You may inadvertently lose your copy of the facility!)
User agreement, manual and registration form are all available at
this point provided you have a printer on-line. You may proceed
to view the documentation on your screen by calling up the file
"123-Lock.wk1." Viewing the file isn't necessary to install the
facility.
Instructions for installing the facility in your Lotus files follow...
Installing 123-LOCK:

#1- Go to an empty range in your spreadsheet at least 10 wide
by 56 deep. 123-Lock will be installed here.

#2- Insert 123-Lock disk in default drive (usually "b:")

#3- Make sure the mode indicator (upper right) says READY

#4- Type "/FCCN123-Lock" [PRESS RETURN TWICE] continue typing "
"/RNC\" (don't type the quotation marks!).

#5- Now specify a letter you want to use when you invoke
123-Lock (The facility will activate whenever you type
"ALT" and the letter at the same time) [PRESS RETURN TWICE]

#6- Press "ALT" and your chosen letter at the same time.
(Be sure 123-Lock disk is still in default drive)

#7- After a few moments, 123-Lock will be installed- try it.
Using 123-LOCK:

#1- When 123-Lock is invoked, a menu is brought up that gives
you a choice about how you want to lock up the facility.

BLANK FREEZE PASSWORD

#2- The "Blank" command will blank-out your screen. Then you
must strike any key to make the facility ready to read
your password (passwords set using "Password" command).
After striking any key, then type your password...
NOTE THE FACILITY CHECKS FOR UPPER OR LOWER CASE!
FOR EXAMPLE: "PASSWORD" IS NOT THE SAME AS "Password"
After typing your password, you're returned to Ready mode.

#3- The "Freeze" command will freeze your keyboard, but neither
your screen or Lotus 123 will be affected. The facility is
immediately ready for your password. After typing your
password you'll be returned to the exact point you were at
when you invoked 123-Lock.

Using 123-LOCK:

#3- The "Password" command allows you to change your password.
#3a- When this function is invoked, OLD ? shows in
the upper-left box of the screen (the "indicator").
You must type your old password before 123-Lock will
allow a password change.

Note the password when you got the facility was "PASSWORD"

#3b- After typing the password, NEW ? shows in the
indicator. At this point you may type any assorment
of characters you can remember less than 239 in total.

NOTE THE FACILITY CHECKS FOR UPPER OR LOWER CASE!
FOR EXAMPLE: "PassWord" IS NOT THE SAME AS "pASSwORD"

Invalid keys will beep when pressed, they won't affect
password input in anyway. Pressing [RETURN] implies
you have finished your password.
123-LOCK technical features:

#1- The range "P00A" contains the main locking routine of the
facility. By calling it as a routine (command = {p00A} )
the macro designer can embed automatic security anywhere in
his own macros, since the keyboard will be automatically
locked-up until the correct password is typed. Provisions
for personnel who don't know the password can be made using
the PASSFAILURE range discussed below.

#2- By naming your current 123-Lock macro "\0," you can put
automatic security on a file as soon as it's retrieved.

#3- By naming 123-Lock "\0" and naming the file it's in
"AUTO123" and saving AUTO123 to your Lotus system disk or
directory, you can put automatic security on your copy of
Lotus 123!

#4- Simply by typing "123" on a line in a "AUTOEXEC.BAT" file
in your root directory, you can secure your whole system!
123-LOCK technical features:

#5- A range named "PASSFAILURE" is created when 123-Lock is
installed. This range can have a macro routine stored
in it, allowing the user to specify what actions should be
taken when the first incorrect key is pressed during a
regular password check. Look at this menu, named "LOOK"

INSTRUCT REVEIW HOME PRINT BROWSE EXAMPLE
See example of 123
{p00a}
This menu is actually installed in the spreadsheet file
simply by calling the routine "P00A" (see above) suspends
execution until a password is typed in. With the first
incorrect keystroke, the routine in "PASSFAILURE" executes
PASSFAILURE {MENUBRANCH LOOK}
This returns the menu, enabling further controlled access.
By putting the menubranch command in passfailure, you can
customize 123-Lock's reaction to incorrect passwords!
NOTE THAT THE PASSWORD FOR THE FILE IS "PASSWORD"
