README File

Just some quick notes:

* The documentation (TEXTMODE.DOC) is formatted for ASCII printing.
You can print it from a DOS prompt by typing:
TYPE TEXTMODE.DOC > PRN
or
COPY TEXTMODE.DOC > PRN
or
PRINT TEXTMODE.DOC
and then pressing .
Page breaks will be automatically inserted.

* You can also view the file using a standard ASCII text editor.
However, if you print it, do not have the editor insert page
breaks, as they are already included in the file.

* It is recommended that you take at least a quick glance over the
documentation before using the program.

* Make sure you have the files TEXTMODE.DOC, TEXTMODE.EXE and
README (this file) on your distribution disk.

* TEXTMODE.EXE is a standalone program that can be installed and
run anywhere on your system by copying the file TEXTMODE.EXE where
desired.

* Remember that TEXTMODE supports two interfaces - a command line
and an interactive one. Help on the command line interface can be
obtained by typing TEXTMODE /H

* When experimenting with this program, be wary of a possible
system lockup if you try to set a video mode you do not have the
hardware for. This is VERY UNLIKELY, and not a big problem anyway
as long as you are not in a DOS shell from another program or
something like that. Don't let it deter you from experimenting, as
this can be fun and tell you a lot about your system. See
TEXTMODE.DOC for more details.
