This release of explosiv represents a significant change in structure
from previous versions of the screen saver. In particular :

1. It is NOT necessary to first run install to use this software.
However, install.exe can still be used to copy the necessary files
to your hard disk and modify your configuration so that explosiv
becomes resident upon bootup.

2. The files explosiv.com, explosiv.exe and explosiv.ovl must be in
the same directory. You can
a) Put these files in your path.
b) Put these files in a directory and copy explosiv.com to
your path. Then run "set EXPLOSIV=".
c) Put these files in a directory and create a batch file
in your path to run explosiv.

Explosiv for DOS now stores all displays dynamically in the file
explosiv.ovl. Since this file will be rewritten whenever you change
the display library it is strongly recommended that you make a backup
of the distributed explosiv.ovl before using the explosiv librarian.

Explosiv 3.0 consists of the files :

Disk 1 :

appendix doc - summary of DOS command line options
explosiv doc - Documentation for explosiv
exporder frm - Ordering information
install exe - Install program
readme 1st - Quick summary, this file
wim exe - Windows Image Maker program
wim dll - Windows Image Maker file
wx exe - Explosiv for Windows program
wxl dll - Explosiv for Windows file
wxinst inf - Used by install.exe
wxinst ovl - Used by install.exe

Disk 2 ( if stored on 360K disks ) :

explosiv com - Explosiv for DOS program
explosiv exe - DOS interface, used by explosiv.com
explosiv ovl - Library of explosiv for DOS displays
logo gif - Sample GIF file
display asm - Sample source code (registered only)

The registered version of explosiv.ovl consists of 98 display entries
while the shareware version has 65 entries.

ADDENDUM

It is recommended that you install explosiv on a disk that has sufficient
disk space. Explosiv needs to make a copy of explosiv.ovl whenever you
change the display library, this will fail if the disk is full.

H&G Software can now be reached on compuserve, please send enquiries to
Reidar Gresseth at 73042,3653.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
