SHARECLS - Shareware Clear Screen

I've been looking for a good routine to clear my screen
for some time now. I finally ended up writing my own, which I
call SHARECLS. After spending considerable time writing it, I
decided to market it as a commercial product. I put it on the
market for $199.99. I advertised it on the bulletin boards at
the local Safeway and Giant stores. I put up posters at the
office supply store where they sell IBM computers. I even put
an ad in the window of the 7/11.

To make a long story short, I didn't sell nearly as many
copies of SHARECLS as I had thought I would. The big companies
have the marketing budget to tout their products and us little
guys don't have a chance. Look at the competing products out on
the market and I think you'll agree that SHARECLS is superior.
Xerox's Ventura Publisher has a type of clear screen, but it
really doesn't do as good a job as SHARECLS and, besides, it's
much larger and takes much more time to clear the screen. But
they can sell their package for $800.00! It just goes to show
what you can do when you have a marketing staff, salespeople, a
customer support staff, a big budget, and can accept credit
cards. It's the same thing with Dr. Halo II. The clear screen
on Dr. Halo II isn't even labelled. It just has a funny
picture. And once you select clear screen, it doesn't even do a
good job of clearing it. It leaves all kinds of little pictures
around the edges. And what about AUTOCAD? You need a mouse to
clear the screen with that! No thank you!

Due to the more limited sales than I had hoped for, I
have now decided to offer SHARECLS as a shareware product for
the ridiculously low price of $25.00. Please, if you find
SHARECLS to be a useful utility, send the $25.00 contribution to
me. Remember, the shareware concept is based on trust. In
return for your $25.00, I'll send you a manual detailing all of
the features of SHARECLS, a REGISTERED copy of SHARECLS that
prints a serial number, and a copy of the source code on the
same diskette. In addition, if I write a version 2.00, which I
intend to do as soon as I finish re-roofing my shed and
panelling my basement, I'll send you a free update. What could
be more fair?

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
