by Steven J. Brown
Pokersheet 1.0 is a menu driven "worksheet" that acts as a dealer in
a stirring game of draw poker. The cards are automatically shuffled for each
game. "Winnings" (or losses) are saved when you quit. You can reset the
winnings to zero from the first menu.
If you have altered your startup macro name to something other than \0, press

incorporated into the program so that on subsequent plays, the game will start
automatically.
The game features a random color setting macro. A large number of color
combinations can be created, each one almost instantly.

Basically, you select items from pop-up style menus. There are three main
menus. The first allows you to place a bet from $1 to $5. Simply press a
number from 1 to 5 to indicate the amount you would like to "bet".
Also from this menu, you may alter the colors of the display. Highlight COLOR
and press or press "C" and a macro will make a random choice of colors.
A submenu will appear with the choices Good colors and Bad colors. Highlight
your choice and press or press "G" or "B". Selecting "Good colors"
means you have accepted the colors as currently displayed. Colors will remain
in effect only during the current Quattro Pro session.
Press "H" at the first menu to display help screens. A minimum amount of help
is needed since this is an absolutely effortless game to play.
"Winnings" can be set to 0 by pressing "R" (RESET) at the first menu. If the
number in the winnings box is in parentheses, then you are losing. You would
most likely want to reset winnings when you are losing. The best time to reset
winnings to zero is when you start up the game. You can choose between
starting with what you had last time or starting with zero.
Once you press a number from 1 to 5 representing your bet, the next menu will
appear. This menu allows you to designate which cards will be held. You must
hold at least two cards unless an ace is in the hand you were dealt (then,
if you like, you may hold one: the ACE). Please note that the macro does not
forbid you from selecting a card other than the ACE. It is up to you to play
according to the rules.
The five cards you were dealt are numbered 1 through 5. You press the
corresponding number to select the cards you want held. When you select
go, the cards you didn't mark are discarded. You "draw" new cards to replace
them.
Also from the second menu, you can CLEAR all of the cards you've marked to be
held and start selecting hold cards again. Just highlight CLEAR and press
or press "C" to clear the HOLDS.
Please don't forget to register. I would like to add your name to my mailing
list to advise you of enhancements and new programs. I also write Paradox 3
applications. If you're interested, please write. It took many hours of testing
and debugging to produce and fine tune this game. All of the bugs may not be
out of the game yet but rest assured that I am still working on it. If you
download QPOKER.ZIP in a month, you'll probably find that it's been improved.
I play it all the time. When I think of something to add to it, I stop playing
and start modifying. I wasn't satisfied with the speed of the original game
so I scrapped it and started again! The new game is much more efficient and
runs much quicker.
Please send:$10 Registration Fee or
$25 Registration/Fully Documented version with manual.

Your questions, comments and suggestions are welcome (as long as you have
registered). If enough interest exists, I will write a multi-player
version of PokerSheet as well as a Lotus version (written in Quattro Pro
of course!).
I find the game quite addicting. You will too. Enjoy it.
