This mode is best used when entering single`line music.``The stem direction may be reversed and locked by pressing F2.``Locked stems are most useful for building chords or entering notes for one`of two voices sharing the same staff.èÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F3³ ERASE STAFF LINES`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``This function clears staff lines for the current column and moves the cursor`one column to the right.``Staff lines for many columns may be erased by holding down ctrl-F3 while the`PC keyboard typematic function takes over, or by using the the block function`(F5) ERASE STAFF option.èÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F4³ CUE MODE`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``This function key is a toggle between Normal sized and Cue sized music.``It has no effect in text mode.``In Cue mode, small characters are provided for notes, rests, accidentals,`clefs and dynamics.``Keys Shift-0 through Shift-9 will provide small numbers rather than time`signatures numbers.è`ÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F5³ ADD OR DELETE MUSIC SYSTEM`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``The 3 options of this function are:`` INSERT - A blank system will be created above the current system.`` DELETE - The current system will be deleted. A verification prompt is` provided. `` ADD to end - A blank system will be added to the end of the document.``If you want to ADD a formatted system (one already containing instrument`names, clefs, key signatures, bar lines, etc.), the following precedure is`recommended:``1. Create a document containing only one formatted system.`2. Save it to disk.`3. Start work on your document. (After either Renaming or Loading.)`4. When a new system is needed, use the Append option from function F10,` specifying the name of the fomatted system that you saved to disk in step 2.èÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F6³ REMOVE TIE`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``Position the cursor at the note from which the tie begins before pressing`this function key.``You will then be asked to press either the up arrow or down arrow key. This`will determine the direction of arc of the tie to be removed.``To remove a tie using the mouse, hold down the left mouse button after `pressing F6, while moving the mouse away from you (for upward arcing tie) or`toward you (for downward arcing tie).èÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F7³ TRANSPOSE MENU`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ`If this menu is invoked from the block function (F5), only the music within`the block will be transposed.``If invoked by the function key Ctrl-F7, you may specify a range in your`document to be transposed by filling in numbers for start page and system, and`stop page and system. "STAFF RANGE WITHIN EACH SYSTEM" is used to specify`which instruments are to be transposed. For example, if only the second staff`of a five staff system were to be transposed, you would specify the START`value of the staff range as 2, and the STOP value as 2.``TRANSPOSITION SIGNATURES, DIRECTION and INTERVAL are all modified by pressing`the spacebar, or the numeric pad + or - keys. ``First, set the SOURCE SIGNATURE field to match the signature in your document.`If you then specify the TARGET SIGNATURE, the INTERVAL will be set by the`program. You may instead specify the INTERVAL, causing the program to set`the TARGET SIGNATURE. Some intervals would transposed to impossible key`signatures (such as D double flat). When you specify such an interval, the`TARGET SIGNATURE is listed as NOT POSSIBLE. Requests for transposition to`impossible key signatures will not be performed.èÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F8³ NO FUNCTION`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙèÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F9³ DOCUMENT DIMENSIONS MENU`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``WIDTH must be defined in columns, of which MusicPrinter Plus allocates 12 per`inch (18 per inch in 24-pin SMALL print mode). `Refer to your printer manual for line capacity information. Most printers`designed for 8.5 inch wide paper have a line capacity of 8 inches, or 96`elite columns. 15 inch printers usually have 13.5 inches (162 12-pitch columns)`of printing width available. If you specify a total width that is longer than`you printer's capacity, some print lines may truncate or wrap around.``If ALTERNATE page numbering is selected on the PRINT menu, the LEFT margin`value will be placed on alternating sides of the page, and will facilitate`binding of your printed copy if you make the left (inside) margin wider than`the right margin.``LENGTH of the paper and top and bottom margins is used to automatically`set page breaks in the document. If a system is too large to fit on the page`defined in this menu, an extra page will be allocated to print the rest of the`system. Top and bottom margins are not shown on the screen while editing.``The vertical margins require a minimum value of one-quarter inch each.èÚÄÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄÄ¿`³Ctrl³-³F10³ RESUME PERFORMANCE`ÀÄÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÄÙ``Use this function to resume a midi PERFORMANCE after having ended or inter-`rupted a performance to return to the editor.``You may select one of three places to restart the performance:` 1) From the beginning of the system in which the performance was interrupted` 2) From the beginning of the current system being edited` 3) From the top of the scoreèÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F1³ INVERSE SCREEN DISPLAY`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``This function will change the display from white characters on a black`background to black characters on a white background, and vice versa.èÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F2³ REVERSE STEM DIRECTION OF SINGLE NOTE`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``Reverse the stem direction of a single note directly under the cursor.`Cursor may be any character.``Use the STEM REVERSE option of the BLOCK function (F5) to reverse the stem`direction of chords, beams or several notes in succession.èÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F3³ REPLACE STAFF LINES`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``This function replaces staff lines for the current column that were erased by`function Ctrl-F3 and moves the cursor one column to the right.``Staff lines for many columns may be replaced by holding down ctrl-F4 while`the keyboard "typematic" function takes over, or by using the REPLACE STAFF`option of the BLOCK function (F5).èÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F4³ LEAD SHEET CHORD SYMBOL MODE`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ`LEAD SHEET mode is indicated by an "L" shaped cursor. Characters are entered`in a manner similar to TEXT mode. That is, each character is entered into the`score when its key is struck. The SPACEBAR, ENTER key, and LEFT mouse button`are not used to enter characters. Press Alt-F4 again to exit LEAD SHEET mode.`` The character keys on the typewriter keyboard are reassigned as follows: ` ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÂÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÂÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿` ³ CHORD SYMBOLS ³ WORDS ³ GUITAR CHORDS ³` ³ A B C D E F G ³ min N ³ ³` ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ maj M ³ chord chart H ³` ³ ACCIDENTALS ³ aug < ³ finger J ³` ³ flat 2 (unless after 1) ³ dim > ³ open string K ³` ³ sharp 3 (unless after 1) ³ sus S ³ muted string L ³` ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ ³` ³ QUALIFIERS and ABBREVIATIONS ³ NUMBERS ³ fret numbers: ³` ³ / - + ³ 1 4 5 6 7 8 9 ³ I ³` ³ dim O ³ 10 11 12 13 14... ³ V ³` ³ half dim 0 (unless after 1) ³ ³ X ³` ³ maj 7 ] ³ ³ ³` ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÁÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÁÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ` The SHIFT key is not required for any character.èÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F5³ ADD OR REMOVE PAGE BREAK`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``Page breaks are automatically assigned based on the paper and margin lengths`defined by you in the DOCUMENT DIMENSIONS menu (Ctrl-F9). They show in the`document as horizontal dashed lines extending the full width of the screen.`Page breaks assigned by the program may not be removed.``By using Ctrl-F5, you may assign additional page breaks anywhere in the`document. The page break will occur at the top of the current staff area.``User-assigned page breaks are distinguished by two columns of extra dashes on`the left side of the page break line. User-assigned page breaks may be`removed by pressing Ctrl-F5 while the cursor is located in the staff area`immediately below the user page break line.``Be forewarned that if a page break is made within a system, page breaks will`occur at that same staff position in all succeeding systems until another user`defined page break is made elsewhere. This situation should not arise, since`there really isn't any reason to split a system between pages.èÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F6³ CURSOR BLINK SPEED ADJUSTMENT`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``Cursor blink speed will be affected by your computer's clock speed, the`presence of a mouse or midi device, and by your general attitude.``A prompt line asks you to press the cursor UP ARROW to increase blink speed,`the cursor DOWN ARROW to decrease blink speed.``Press the F10 key to return to normal editing.``Since the cursor blinks every time a key is pressed, the PC keyboard's`typematic function invoked when a key is held for more than 1/2 second will`mask the true speed of the cursor blink. Let go of the key to see the real`blink speed.èÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F7³ NO FUNCTION`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙèÚÄÄÄ¿ ÚÄÄ¿`³Alt³-³F8³ PRINT`ÀÄÄÄÙ ÀÄÄÙ``START - First staff to be printed`STOP - Last staff to be printed` Page, System, and Staff numbers can be found on the` music screen STATUS line. 1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
