Object - To solve a murder case in as few questions as possible.

Setup - To execute the program, simply place the software diskette into
drive A:\ and type the following command: MURDER2

Game Play -
The program will now start to execute by displaying the title
screen. You will be asked to enter a number from -32768 to
32767. This number will be used to select unique murder cases
for each game played. If you enter a number outside the range
requested you will receive an "Overflow" error. If this happens
enter another number.

After a random seed has been entered you will be presented with a
Menu. (Each option is explained below)

1. This option is used to enter the suspects/victims names. You
must enter (6) six unique names. If you enter the same name
more than once, you will be asked to re-enter another name.
After six (6) unique names have been entered you will return to
the Menu.

2. This option is used to enter the different rooms. You
must enter (6) six unique rooms. If you enter the same room
more than once, you will be asked to re-enter another room.
After six (6) unique rooms have been entered you will return to
the Menu.

3. This option is used to enter the different weapons. You
must enter (6) six unique weapons. If you enter the same weapon
more than once, you will be asked to re-enter another weapon.
After six (6) unique weapons have been entered you will return to
the Menu.

4. This option is used to play the game after you have entered, or
loaded, all the required data. If you try to continue the game
without entering (loading) any data, a message will briefly be
displayed telling you that you MUST enter more data.

5. If you wish, you can load data that you used for a previous
game. To do this, just type number five (5) and the data will
be read into the computer.

6. If you choose this option you will leave the program, and return
to DOS.

After you have entered (6) six names, rooms, or weapons you will be
asked if you want to change the data. If you made a mistake enter "Y"
and you will be given the chance to enter new data.

When the desired data has been entered and ready to use, press "4" to
play the game. You will be asked if you want to save data. If you
want to use the data you just entered into the computer, press "Y" and
the data will be saved. IF ANY OTHER DATA WAS SAVED IT WILL BE OVER-
WRITTEN. YOU ARE ONLY ABLE TO STORE ONE SET OF DATA. If you type
"N" the data will not be saved.

The program will now display the data table. This will show you
what suspects, victims, weapons, and rooms you will be using in
the game. Simply press any key when you are finished viewing the
table.

The computer will now list the rooms used in the game. You must move
from room to room trying to figure out who killed what person with
what weapon in which room. To do this, type a number that corresponds
to a room. You will then enter that room. You will be told what is
in the room; weapons, suspects, and victim (if killed there). You
must then ask questions. Press:

1. If you press number one '1' the computer will tell you if the
room you are in was the location of the murder.

2. If you press number '2' the computer will tell you if the suspect
in the room killed the victim.

3. If you press number '3' the computer will tell you if the weapon
in the room was used during the murder.

4. Press number '4' to change rooms.

5. If you press number '5' you will begin the procedure to solve the
case. (described later on)

When you leave a room you will return to the list of rooms. The
computer will print the word "CHECKED" next to the room you just
left. This makes it easy to remember where you have been.

When you think you know who-done-it with what and where choose the
option to "Solve the Case". You will be asked if you are sure you
want to solve the case. If you made a mistake, press '2' and you
will return to the List of Rooms.

If you are ready to solve the case, press '1'. The computer will
ask you who the suspect is, who the victim is, what weapon was used,
and where the murder took place. If you are correct, the computer
will tell you how many questions you had to ask to solve the case.
If you are wrong, you will be told what really happened.

Whether you solve the case or not, you will be asked if you want to
solve another case or to exit the program. Press '1' to play again
or '2' to exit to DOS. If you play again you will be given the
opportunity to enter new data. If you wish, you can use the same
data again, it's up to you !
