"SHARE-WARE" marketing concept. The software is not public
domain. The author maintains and protects all rights to this

which allows the copying and distribution of this software on a
nonprofit basis. MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN contains proprietary
information and must remain entirely intact in its original non-
modified form. This program may not be distributed on a "disk

END USER AGREEMENT (Please read)

Creating quality software is a time consuming and very expensive
process. To maintain high quality software standards, software
authors are forced to constantly upgrade their development tools;
both hardware and software. This is always an expensive
proposition and, more often than not, one that is not readily
affordable to the software developer. Because of this, this
software (MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN) is not free. By properly
registering your copy of this software, you will play a major
role in providing the software author with the required incentive
and monetary means to produce future software updates and
releases.

If you wish to keep this software as part of your library
(maintain a copy of this software in your possession) you are
requested to send the nominal fee of $1.00 (or the foreign
equivalent) to the software author. Having paid a software
distributor a "copying" or "distribution" fee etc. does not
release you from this obligation if you decide to keep this
software.

IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO PAY THE ABOVE SOFTWARE REGISTRATION FEE,
YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DESTROY (OR PASS ON TO SOMEONE ELSE) ALL
COPIES OF THIS SOFTWARE IN YOUR POSSESSION.

IMPORTANT: When registering your copy of MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN,
please include your NAME and current ADDRESS, the TITLE and
VERSION number of this software, and how you obtained your copy
(where you got MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN). This will allow us to process
you as a registered MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN user, and will entitle you
to information regarding future software updates and releases.
Also, make certain that you send us a self addressed, stamped
envelope, so that we may send you your copy of the MIDNIGHT
MOUNTAIN USERS GUIDE. This instruction guide explains the many
undocumented features of MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN, such as how to use a
JOYSTICK, SOUND ON/OFF, and how to exit the program without re-
booting your system, etc. REMEMBER: MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN
automatically switches into the DEMO mode upon execution! The
MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN USERS GUIDE explains how to bypass the demo
mode and ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME!

After registering your copy of MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN, you are still
bound by the conditions set forth in this End User Agreement.

Please send your $1.00 (or the foreign equivalent) and a SAS
envelope to:

Keith E. Fieler
KEF TECHNOLOGIES COMPUTER SERVICES
15000 Seventh Street, Suite 206
Victorville California, 92392 U.S.A.

Your cooperation with this End User Agreement is greatly
appreciated. Thank you and God bless.

A NOTE TO PUBLIC DOMAIN SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTORS

We welcome software distributors to distribute our software, as
long as the following stipulations are followed BEFORE the act of
software distribution is initiated:

A. Please mail us a "letter of intent" which states who, what,
and where you are, your business phone number, and the
complete conditions in which you would like to distribute our
software under. With this letter of intent, please send us a
complete copy of your current software catalog.

B. Upon receipt of your correspondence, we will send you
a detailed "Software Distribution Agreement" for your review.
This agreement will explain the conditions under which our
software may be distributed.

If you wish to distribute our software, please follow the above
procedures. This will insure that you have received the latest
(and best possible) version of our software, and will provide you
with information about future updates, releases, and other
valuable product information.

INTRODUCTION

Nestled high in the Jungfrau Region of the Swiss Alps lies one of
the largest glacial masses known to mankind: "Das Gletscher-
Rundfahrt" (that's really what it's called). Since this ominous
pinnacle of ice is, more often than not, mis pronounced by
americans, it is known by most yankees as Midnight Mountain.

After an intoxicating evening at the Casino Kursaal, you and you
half-baked buddies agree to conquer the mountain's mogul-ridden
slopes. The word spreads quickly amongst the natives and, the
next morning, the entire town of Grindelwald turns out for the
"free show of American suicide". Can you handle it? Will you
make it down the mountain? Alive?

Good Luck!

COMMANDS

Use the following keys to play MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN:

[RIGHT CURSOR] Speed-up (hold key down for fast
acceleration).

[LEFT CURSOR] Slow-down (hold key down to stop
quickly).

[UP CURSOR] Jump low (short jump).

[SPACE] Jump high (long jump).

OTHER COMMANDS:

[Q] Quit the game.

* [?] Select joystick play.

* [?] Sound on/off.

* [?] Invoke additional features (Pause/Return to DOS without
re-boot).

[F1] Exit to dos (while in demo mode).

* NOTE: Commands marked [?] are enhanced commands that are fully
explained in the MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN USERS GUIDE.

SCORING

When playing MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN, your score is determined as
follows. You will receive:

100-300 POINTS for jumping;

100-500 POINTS additional for landing on a mogul;

500-2000 POINTS for jumping over trees;

5000 POINTS for finishing a game level (ski run);

-1000 POINTS for crashing into a mogul, tree, or flag.

You will also receive additional Strength Points for every
ski run that is successfully completed.

GAME PLAYING HINTS

MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN consists of multiple ski runs, each more
difficult than the first. The first six game levels (ski runs)
are as follows:

RUN 1: "The Bunny Slope" Jump over small moguls.

RUN 2: "The Intermediate Slope" Jump over small moguls and flags.

RUN 3: "The Ice Run" Jump small and large moguls, and avoid
contact (jump over) with flags.

RUN 4: "The Ice Cave Run" Jump small and large moguls, jump over
flags, and jump over treetops.

RUN 5: "The Grizzly Zone" Jump over all moguls, flags, and small
and large trees.

RUN 6: "The Expert Run" ?????

REMEMBER: Every time you crash, you lose strength points. When
your strength points equal zero, you die! Also, press
the spacebar (Jump High) after crashing. This will get
you "back on your way" faster.

Good Luck!

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
