NOTES: You must have at least Ver 1.1
of Harpoon to play this Scenario.

Due to the slight limitaions in the
MedC battleset I have used Topel to
simulate Tartus(Red), on the NE end of
Cyprus, and Araxos to simulate Paphos(Blue)
on the far Western end of the Island.


1. PLACE THE .SC3 FILE IN YOUR HARPOON SUB-DIRECTORY.
2. LOAD HARPOON AND SELECT THE MEDC BATTLESET.
3. LOAD ANY HARPOON SCENARIO FROM THREE-SIXTY.
4. ONCE PLAY BEGINS SELECT AND SELECT CYPRUS.


NATO ORDERS

SCENARIO BACKGROUND

Cyprus, off the coast of Turkey, has long been disputed over
by Greece and Turkey. Ever since the uprising by the Turks
in 1974 and the subsequent invasion by Turkey it has been
'split' in two, the Northeast side being controlled by
Turkey, the remainder by Greece. With war raging in the Gulf
for some time the world's attention is firmly locked on the
daily reports from the front. Now Turkey has decided to
'reunify' the island, the thousands of US and other foreign
nationals that have sought refuge from the Gulf war there
now find themselves in the center of another conflict.

BLUE ORDERS

The USS Forrestal has just transited back from the Red Sea
after suffering some losses to it's embarked air wing in
support of the land war in Kuwait. Your mission is to
escort the two Newport class LST's to Southwest Cyprus to
rescue US and other foreign nationals left stranded after
the destruction of the airport at Paphos.

INTELLIGENCE BRIEF

Turkey has withdrawn from the Alliance and it is rumored to
have joined with Syria and possibly Jordan in a 'neutrality'
pact to avoid fighting a ground war against their Arab
brothers. You can expect active resistance from the Turkish
air force and Navy, which mostly consists of US handouts
from the 1970's and 80's, as well as a few German Type
209's. There is an ongoing air battle for control of the
island to also be aware of. Greece is sending a Naval
detachment to aid in the evacuation but it primary purpose
will be to hold back the Turkish forces.

MINIMUM VICTORY CONDITIONS

Proceed to the area off of Southwestern Cyprus and stay
there long enough to aid in the LST's defense as they load
civilians from shore, about one full day.

TOTAL VICTORY CONDITIONS

In addition to assisting the LST's destroy the Turkish base
on the Northeastern end of the island.





This user edited scenario originated from the Harpoon
Scenario Editor BBS; operating it's terminal at
718-746-7466 in ANSI emulation (2400/1200 N-8-1) using
A WWIV TERMINAL VERSION 4. Sometimes you may find
Procomm Plus terminal up when sysop is conducting
other business. However this terminal also accesses
the directory with the HARPOON SCENARIO WAREHOUSE
files.

On July 16, 1990 the Harpoon Scenario Editor BBS
Warehouse was started as a place where a central point
could be maintained for the uploading and downloading
of the Harpoon Game edited scenarios. As interest and
usage of the BBS grew. The BBS improved it's service
and terminal to a full fledge BBS on October 2, 1990.
The BBS will continue to work on improving the terminal
and services as long as interest continues for Harpoon
scenarios. The true test of success will be the users
and plenty of uploads of scenarios made by members with
the Scenario Editor.

your pleasure, and share this scenario with others.
When you connect to the BBS and you are a first time
user type in "NEW" and follow the prompts for
initialization as a member. Veterans of the original
Pro-comm Plus terminal will also have to reinitialize
onto the new WWIV terminal.
