"Home Of The Masters"
4/91 - This course was originally designed by Scott Chesney and
downloaded from Accolade's BBS. Chesney creates some great
replicas of real courses and is also becoming "famous" amoung
Jack Nicklaus Unlimited Golf (JNUG) players for the trees and
shrubs he draws.
In this particular course, however, I found the greens to be
unrealistically difficult. Elevation changed as much as five
feet from square to square. Certain pin positions made it seem
as though you were putting for a hole cut into the side of a
cliff. Tapping for a one foot putt and missing could leave you
30 feet away. Five putting was not unusual. I consider myself a
fair putter, have turned in some rounds under 24 putts, but was
averaging 45 putts on Chesney's Augusta greens.
I realize Augusta is renowned for difficult greens, but
these were a little too much. As such, I have modified all the
greens; they remain very challenging, but are now more like a
real golf green as opposed to a nightmare putt-putt course. (I
also came across a few other design "bugs" like ball washers in
the middle of tee areas and fixed these.)
I hope you enjoy this course and it's modified greens.
By the way, if you are a reader of crime novels, I have
written a few (which alter between being in and out of print) and
it would be great if you'd pick one up at your local bookstore.
The titles are: WINNER'S CUT, THE CAPTAIN DROWNS, RAZOR MOON,
MIDNIGHT RAZZ and BEACH MONEY. I hope you like the books.
Beware of their sexual and violent content, however.

Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
