The routine to find compatible charts was developed to enable an
astrological dating service to quickly search a database of
charts for compatible matches. If all you want to do is to
compare two charts for compatibility, it is better to review the
two charts in succession and to select the option to `Compare
this Chart Against the First Chart' and then select `Chart
Synastry'. It is really only by doing this that you acquire the
experience with the communication index levels that will enable
you to decide what you want to set at this screen as your minimum
required levels. The program requires that you set the minimum
levels at 1000 or higher. Chart matches that fail to exceed your
specified minimum communication levels will not display.

The Compatibility Index (Harmonious/Inharmonious ratio) can be
illustrated with an example. A Harmonious Communication Index of
3000 and an Inharmonious Communication Index of -1500 give a
Compatibility Index of 2.0 because 2.0 is the ratio of 3000 to

1500. If you choose to enter 2.0 as your minimum Compatibility
Index, then chart matches that fall below this ratio will not
display. As the ratio falls, approaching 1 or less, the more
frustrating the relationship is likely to be.

The Find Compatible Charts routine prints the communication
indexes together with the three strongest mutual aspects for each
match that it finds either to a file, the printer, or the screen,
as the user selects. An AT personal computer will compare a
selected chart to a database of 100 charts and print out 17
matches in 3 minutes.

The program ignores mutual aspects involving the ascendant or
midheaven of a chart where PM and 0 were used for the birth time.

When selecting charts to compare, the prompt to press after
each record number means to hit the carriage return or enter key.

At a number of places in the program, but especially in the Find
Compatible Charts screen, entering an `X' at a prompt will enable
the user to exit the screen without continuing.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
