Introduction:
-------------

ABUSE! is a toy for people who love colorful language. Note: you have
the shareware version. The language is colorful but not TOO colorful.
See ORDER.FRM to obtain Industrial Strength ABUSE!, which contains the
really offensive language.

ABUSE! is an interactive thesaurus of obnoxious language. It helps you
create the perfect insult for that special person, and then it pastes
the insult into your word processor, offline reader or communications
program.

ABUSE! composes grammatically correct sentences. You simply select
words or phrases from lists of synonyms, and ABUSE! puts them
together. The lists are cross-referenced, so you can go from one to
another. In fact, if you're one of those wackos who enjoy browsing
dictionaries and thesauruses, you'll have fun browsing the large and
colorful vocabulary of ABUSE!.

You can use ABUSE! to write a letter to your favorite politician. You
can use it to help you leave flaming posts on bulletin boards. You
can even use it on chat boards.

ABUSE! will turn the most inarticulate techno-weenie into a foul-
mouthed master of vituperation.


Installation:
-------------
Installation basically consists of copying the distribution files into
their own subdirectory on a hard disk, or onto a floppy for floppy-
based systems. If you received ABUSE! in compressed form (e.g. as a
single file called ABUSE11.ZIP), you can install and run ABUSE! using
the following commands. (Don't type the comments on the right!)

MD \ABUSE create subdirectory ABUSE
PKUNZIP ABUSE11 \ABUSE uncompress files into subdirectory
CD \ABUSE move to subdirectory
ABUSE -D run ABUSE! in demo mode
ABUSE run in interactive mode

If you're running ABUSE! on a monochrome graphics screen or a laptop,
and you're having trouble reading the screen, try running the program
with the -M option:

ABUSE -M

For more detailed information on installing ABUSE!, please refer to
the installation section of the manual (the text file ABUSE.DOC).


Printing the Documentation:
---------------------------
When you install ABUSE!, you should check that none of the files are
missing. The complete list of files comprising the ABUSE! package is
listed in the text file PACKING.LST.

All documentation files, including PACKING.LST, ORDER.FRM, and all
files ending with the .DOC extension, can be printed by simply copying
each file to PRN. For example:

COPY ABUSE.DOC PRN

Note that these documentation files contain form feeds and IBM
extended (box drawing) characters; if your printer can't handle these
high-order characters, you can still view the document on your screen
using the DOS TYPE command, Vern Buerg's venerable LIST program, or
any other ASCII file viewer.


ABUSE! is Shareware:
---------------------
ABUSE! is being marketed as shareware. Shareware gives users an
opportunity to evaluate a program before buying it. If you enjoy
ABUSE! and wish to continue using it after a 30-day trial period,
you must order the registered version. You'll receive the latest
version, a printed manual, free technical support and you'll be
notified of new releases.
