A remarkable man, sensitive, an art lover and creator,who
came from a large family in Germany.
Physically, he was one of the weakest of the family and yet
he was the one who served during World War I. First he was on the
French front and then on the Russian front. He was wounded there
and captured, spent years in Siberian prison camps and finally
returned home to Germany via Japan, San Francisco, the Panama Canal,
and Norfolk five years after he left home.
He emigrated to the United States and made a living as a
woven label designer until his eye sight and health made that
difficult.
Spent his last twenty or so years in the San Diego area.
