ENGLISH LANGUAGE BROADCASTS FALL '85 9/7/85
updated 9/16
These stations were logged here in Pgh. and therefore are representative
of stations that should be easy to hear. I am excluding marginal signals
and stations that broadcast for less than an hour in english.
This is not meant to be a complete list, but is a representative sample
of some interesting things to hear in the shortwave spectrum...
Time period : 0200 - 0400 UTC (10 PM to MIDNIGHT, EDT)
FREQUENCY STATION
5.975 BBC , London - can be heard 24 hrs/day on one freq.
or another; one of the "big 3" (USA, USSR).

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Time Period : 1700 - 1900 UTC (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT)
15.070 BBC - booms in, of course...
15.110 Radio Prague, Czechoslovakia. ALSO GOOD: 17.705
15.260 Radio Canada. ALSO GOOD: 17.820
15.345 Argentina. This is a pretty good catch...
11.675 Kuwait. Playing rock music yet! A very good catch...
15.420 WRNO , New Orleans
11.645 Voice of Greece. This one is pretty consistent.
ALSO GOOD: 15.630
We can expect the frequencies in the 15 and 17 MHz bands to get
weaker as winter approaches; but then we can also look forward to
some much more noise free reception...
I'm not attempting to document the Voice of America (VOA) or Radio
Moscow; these can practically be pulled in on a refrigerator (!) and
are easily heard 24 hrs/day. (I once DID pull in Radio Nederland on a
phono cartridge; you should have seen the letter I got back from the
reception report !).
This list will be updated periodically... have fun !

Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
