Files supplied with the DOS version of FAMILY TIES are
FT.EXE FTINSTAL.EXE FTDEMO.EXE README
FTCOLOR.DAT FTINSTAL.DAT *MANUAL *UPDATE.DOC
PRINT.CTR NAMES.DA1 USER-NO.EXE UPDATE.BAT
FGRSH.INS NAMES.NTS REGISTRN.FRM COPYPROG.BAT
DOCS.COM - self extracts to 4 files when executed
* contained in DOCS.COM
To make a NEW DATABASE:
If you have a HARD DISK: (default to the HD subdir)
Copy all the files to a subdir (FAMTIE?) with COPY A:*.* /V
then enter MANUAL or
for 1 or 2 FLOPPY DISK DRIVES:
First format 2 disks and place system files on them using FORMAT B:/s
The batch file COPYPROG.BAT will copy the files used to run FAMILY TIES onto
one disk and the ask you to change disks for the DEMO/DOC files.
With the MASTER disk in A: and the formatted disk in B: enter COPYPROG
MANUAL This is the documentation for the FAMILY TIES program.(21 pages).
First turn on your printer and print the manual by entering the following:
TYPE MANUAL^P (or COPY MANUAL PRN )
^P = press the CONTROL and P keys together, is the RETURN or ENTER key.
when the printer is finished type ^P to turn off the listing to the printer.
UPDATE.DOC - instructions for updating prior FAMILY TIES databases.
FTDEMO.EXE is the tutorial - learn how to use FAMILY TIES by entering:
FTDEMO
FAMILY TIES program - NEVER try to install the original disk. ALWAYS make
a copy first - Write-protect your MASTER or original disk.
FTINSTAL is the install program for FAMILY TIES and this program will erase
many of the files on the disk being installed - see WARNING page 3 of manual.
To print this file, turn on your printer and enter: TYPE README^P
