FLASHER - THE BRAINWAVE STIMULATOR

Have you seen the ads lately for those special glasses which allow
you to experiment with visual Brainwave Stimulation? They're fun -
but at $200.00 or more - expensive! FLASHER is a program which lets
you experiment with the same phenomenon using your computer. You
select the flashrate, pattern and color - then relax and let the
hypnotic light pulses affect your mood. Depending on CPU speed
and setup, you can select from 1 to 30 cycles per second (Hertz).
Although flashrates above approximately 15 Hz are visually interest-
ing to look at, the most relaxing rates are at the low end - down in
the Delta and Theta ranges. The program prompts you for the desired
entries. You'll need a 100% IBM compatible computer with a color EGA
or VGA monitor. THERE IS ONE VERY IMPORTANT WARNING WHICH YOU MUST
OBSERVE!!! DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM IF YOU SUFFER FROM EPILEPSY OR
OTHER NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS! While this may affect only a few people,
adverse reactions to flashing lights have been experienced by suscep-
tible persons. Otherwise, put on some mood music, type FLASHER, close
your eyes and enjoy! You should be able to percieve the pulses through
closed eyelids. The slower the rate, the more vivid the sensation. Try
Flashrate = 4, Color = Yellow and Pattern = Alpha for a good demo of
the hypnotic power of FLASHER. A striking visual presentation can be
seen by selecting Flashrate = 22, Color = Yellow and Pattern = Gamma.
You might not be able to percieve the faster rates through closed eye-
lids, but then the faster rates are in the Beta Brainwave range which
is the wide awake state. BE SURE AND HEED THE WARNING SCREENS. Although
warning screens appear before and during the program itself, be sure to
include this file when you share FLASHER with your friends. Thank you.
