What is the recommended climb procedure when a nonradar departure control
instructs a flight to climb to the assigned altitude?

1 - Maintain a continuous optimum climb until reaching assigned altitude
and report passing each 1,000-foot level.
2 - Climb at a maximum angle of climb to within 1,000 ft. of the assigned
altitude, then 500 ft./min. the last 1,000 ft.
3 - Climb to within 1,000 ft. of the assigned altitude on the right side
of the airway, then join the airway.
4 - Maintain an optimum climb on the centerline of the airway without
intermediate level-offs until 1,000 ft. below assigned altitude, then
500 ft./min.
