This is an assembled COM format file for EPSON MX's with GRAFTRAX
80 that allows you to print an IBM PC screen in three ways. At DOS
command level you run the program, which attaches itself to DOS. It
enhances your IBM PrtSc function and remains resident until reset or
power down. Working with the SHIFT PrtSc keys, if you print the screen
in TEXT-mode the routine simply uses the ROM print screen routine in
the normal way.
If you print the screen in GRAPHICS-mode, a LEFT SHIFT PrtSc will
print the screen LARGE--filling nearly an 8 1/2 x 11 page--and then
insert carriage returns to restore Top Of Form relative to where it
started. If you do a RIGHT SHIFT PrtSc, the screen is printed about 5
1/4 x 2 3/4 inches. No TOF reset is made, and multiple screen prints
will be contiguous.
In either graphics print mode, you can abort printing by hitting
the ESC key. This can be used to suppress the carriage returns at the
end of the large screen print, for instance. You cannot abort a screen
print in text mode, however, since it is your IBM ROM routine.
To make GRAFTRAX.COM, use the HEXCONV.BAS program to make a
machine readable file. Specify .COM as the extension. Then at DOS
command level type GRAFTRAX, or whatever you have named the file. A
short message will appear, indicating that the file has successfully
loaded. That's it! Now Shift PrtSc will print Epson bit-plot graphics.
This program adds about 1K to DOS. Be careful if you use it with the
SPOOLER1 program on this board, as the large graphics print sends
almost 16K in bit-plot bytes to the EPSON and SPOOLER1's buffer size is
20K. GRAFTRAX.COM will ONLY work with EPSON GRAFTRAX tm.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
