Persistence of Vision
----------------------

The PV-Team is a collection of volunteer programmers, designers,
animators and artists meeting via electronic mail on Compuserve's
COMART forum, section 16 Raytracing (COMART is also the home of the
very popular Fractint and its authors the Stone Soup Group.)

The PV-Team's goal is to create freely distributable, high
quality rendering and animation software written in C that can be
easily ported to many different computers. David Buck has become a
group member and has generously donated his popular raytracer,
DKBTrace Ver 2.12, as the foundation for the project.

DKBTrace/STAR-Light is now known as the Persistence of Vision Raytracer.
It's a great raytracing program that boasts well written and highly
portable C source code. The program runs on IBM-PC, Amiga,
Macintosh, Unix, Sun, mainframes and many other computers. The
latest version of the PV-Ray source code/program and any other
PV-Team code/programs will always be available on Compuserve's
COMART forum library 16.

Enhancements, bug fixes, artwork, suggestions for all PV
programs are all welcome. Feel free to contribute to the PV
programs and join in on development.

If you would like to participate in and contribute to
Persistence of Vision or find out more about the PV-Team, please

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
