PIXCAT HLP

PIXCAT is Copyright 1988,1990 by Richard A. Sharon

This file contains all the help text used in the PixCat
program.

*B 1,Help Overview

For your convenience, PixCat is based on a system of
menus. You can press your [Arrow] keys to "point to" a
menu item. PixCat uses a "Menu Bar" to highlight the menu
item you are currently "pointing to". Pressing [Enter]
invokes the highlighted menu item. More on menus later.

PixCat also includes a context sensitive help system. You
are displaying a help window right now.

Press [F1] at any time for context-sensitive help.

Press your [PgDn] key for more information. On some
keyboards, this is labelled [Page Down].

*P

ÄÄPgDnÄÄ on the bottom border of a help screen means that
more help window "pages" follow. You can display them by
pressing [PgDn]. On some keyboards, that key is labelled
[Page Down]. For example, you pressed [PgDn] to get to
this screen.

ÄÄPgUpÄÄ on the bottom border of a help screen means that
there are previous "pages". Pressing [PgUp], sometimes
labelled [Page Up], would redisplay those pages. Pressing
[PgUp] would take you back to the help screen displayed
prior to this one.

ÄÄPgUp/PgDnÄÄ means there are both previous and following
help pages.
*P

In addition to pressing [F1] to invoke help, you can also:

Press [Esc] to exit any help screen.

Press [Alt-X] at any time to exit PixCat.

Highlighted portions of a help window, resembling menu
bars, indicate related help topics usually prefaced by the
heading "Also See:". You can use your [arrow] keys to
point to one of these topics then press [Enter] to display
it. For example:

*B 9,Select Printer

Selecting Printer
-----------------

This function lets you tell PixCat what brand of printer
you are using. This is critical, PixCat can't accurately
print graphics unless you specify what type of printer you
have. If your printer is not listed, experiment by trying
some of the other listed settings. For many printers,
the Epson or IBM settings will work. If your printer is
not listed but you find a selection that works -or- if no
selection works with your printer, please notify us. It
is our intent to make PixCat compatible with as many
printers as possible.

*P

To select a printer, use:

Arrow Keys - to move the selection bar to point to
a printer specification
Home - move to the top of the list
End - move to the bottom of the list

*B 13,Save Configuration

Saving Configuration
--------------------

PixCat will "remember" your configuration settings for you
if you "save" them using this option. Configuration
settings that are saved include screen colors, printer
selection, and directories the various graphics libraries
reside in.

When exiting PixCat, if you changed any of these settings
but neglected to save them, PixCat will ask whether you
want them saved. If you say no, all configuration changes
since the list save will be lost.

*B 14,Form Feed

Form Feed
---------

This selection sends a form feed to your printer. This
will advance your printer to top of the next page.

This is especially useful if you just (prematurely)
"stopped" printing a graphics library and want your
printer ready to start a new page.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
