The two batch files, PAL.BAT and PALVGA.BAT, demonstrate the different
color palettes in IMDISPAL.ZIP. To see the demo, do the following:

1. Unzip the palette files from IMDISPAL.ZIP.

2. Start up IMDISP and open an image for display. You can do this
either from DOS (type "IMDISP filename.ext" at the DOS prompt), or
at the COMMAND: prompt inside IMDISP (type "FIL filename.ext").

3. After the image file is opened, and you are at the COMMAND: prompt
inside IMDISP, type BAT PAL.BAT (if you have one of the supported
SuperVGA boards) or BAT PALVGA.BAT (for a regular VGA board).

4. Each time the palette changes, it waits for you to press a key to
continue.

5. When you're finished, type EXIT at the COMMAND: prompt to get back
out to DOS.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
