CENTRAL POINT ANTI-VIRUS SIGNATURE UPDATE

*Signature File Update Information for Windows Anti-Virus Version 1.0*

The self-extracting archive file named WINSIG.EXE is for users of Central
Point Anti-Virus for Windows Version 1.0. It contains updated files that
include the latest virus signatures available.

This update works with Central Point Anti-Virus Windows Version 1.0.

To update your version of Central Point Anti-Virus for Windows, follow these
steps:

1. If you are on CompuServe or the Central Point BBS, download the
self-extracting archive file as WINSIG.EXE to a temporary directory
on your hard drive.

If you have the Central Point Anti-Virus Signature Disk, copy the
self-extracting archive file WINSIG.EXE to a temporary directory on
your hard drive.

2. Run WINSIG.EXE to extract the update signature file, CPAVSCAN.DLL, an
updated virus list file, WNVIRLST.CPS, the update signature file for
VSAFE, VIRSIGS.CPS, and the Read Me file, WINSIG.TXT, which contains
this file and an updated list of virus signatures included in the
CPAVSCAN.DLL file.

3. Copy the files CPAVSCAN.DLL, WNVIRLST.CPS and VIRSIGS.CPS to the
directory on your hard drive containing the Central Point Anti-Virus
for Windows files.

4. Reboot your computer to invoke the new signatures when you run VSAFE.

5. Run the Central Point Anti-Virus Windows program.

The virus list is updated automatically when you run the program.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
