Introduction:

Virus Rescue provides comprehensive on-line virus help
information for infection identification and removal, and it
provides an integrated interface for the McAfee Associates SCAN
product line.
Virus Rescue generates help text and other virus specific
information from the schematic data provided in the McAfee
Associates VIRLIST.TXT file. An updated version of this file is
distributed with each new version of SCAN. Thus, Virus Rescue does
not need to be updated to keep up with new SCAN versions.
The Virus Rescue on-line help feature provides all pertinent
information about any specific virus, including infection
mechanisms, types of files that the virus attacks, known variants,
effects on the system and identification information. It also
provides disinfection information, cautionary notes and special
instructions for dealing with "Stealth" type viruses if applicable.

The integrated interface provides an easy to use pull-down
menu structure that walks you through the SCAN and CLEAN settings
necessary to deal with the specific configuration of your system.
You will find Virus Rescue to be an indispensable addition to
your anti-virus arsenal.

Operation:

First place RESCUE.EXE into a sub-directory that also contains
the McAfee Associates' SCAN.EXE, CLEAN.EXE and VIRLIST.TXT files.
