PCSecure........................................................Version 1.0

PCSecure is a complete Personal Computer WatchDog. PCSecure keeps track
of every single command typed at your keyboard, without being noticed.

The primary purpose of PCSecure is to monitor your personal computer while
unattended. If you would like to document unauthorized access to your
computer, then PCSecure is for You!

PCSecure works as a computer system monitor, tracking every command that
is entered into your computer. PCSecure logs the time, date, and command
that is typed in, and then marks the time and date when the command is
completed.

Included in this ShareWare Product are four (4) files.

Filenames Their use.
------------ ------------------------------------------------
LOG.EXE This is the PCSecure WatchDog program.
VIEWLOG.EXE This allows viewing of all recorded information.
RESETLOG.BAT This deletes the recorded information.
PCSECURE.DOC This is the PCSecure documentation file.

To set up your machine for using PCSecure, follow these instructions:

Install the PCSecure software on your C: drive as follows.

Create a directory called UTIL. From the C:\> type in MD UTIL

Copy all 4 files into the C:\UTIL\ directory.

Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and add the following PATH to your
current PATH command. C:\UTIL

Finally, add the following command as the last line in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file. LOG

Once finished, the following will have been done.

All PCSecure files will exist in a directory called UTIL off of your
C: drive, and your AUTOEXEC.BAT file will have a new entry in your
PATH command and the word LOG as the last line in the file.

Example AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
-------------------------------------
ECHO OFF
PATH=C:\SYSTEM;C:\SYSTEM\DOS;C:\UTIL
PROMPT $P$G
LOG

PCSecure........................................................Version 1.0

Once PCSecure has been installed, reboot your computer. Use either
Ctrl+Alt+Del or turn your computer off and then back on again.

When your computer is re-booted, you will not see anything different than
normal, but behind the scenes, PCSecure is watching every command. For
a simple test, follow the scenario listed below:

Type in DIR and press ENTER
Type in DIR/W and press ENTER
Type in VIEWLOG and press ENTER

At this point you will view a window in the center of your screen,
with the DIR and the DIR/W command logged, with a time and date stamp.

To Exit this window, press ESC. The window will disappear and place
you back at the DOS prompt.

To Clear out the LOG file TYPE in RESETLOG, and the LOG file will
be deleted. Try the VIEWLOG command again, and you will notice that
the log file cannot be found. Press enter, and ESC out of the Window.

Any other commands you would like to use can be tried and whenever you
wish to view the log file just use VIEWLOG.

So remember:

- the LOG command turns PCSecure on.
- the VIEWLOG command allows viewing of the LOG file.
- the RESETLOG command deletes the current log file.

To remove PCSecure from monitoring your Computer type in RETURN and
press enter. PCSecure will automatically remove itself from memory.

PCSecure........................................................Version 1.0

For example, lets walk through a typical scenario with PCSecure after a
typical day at the office.

- You turn off your machine, and leave work at 5:00.

- Your co-worker stops by at 5:10, and turns on your machine.

What the Co-Worker Does at your machine: The Command they Type in:
------------------------------------------- -------------------------
The co-worker looks on your C: drive DIR
to get a directory listing.

They see a PERSONAL directory and enter it. CD PERSONAL

They then check out what's in this directory. DIR/W

Finally, when they notice a file RESUME.DOC, COPY RESUME.DOC A:
they copy it to a floppy on your A: drive.

At 5:15, they remove their floppy from the No command.
A: drive, turn off your machine, and leave.

As you can see, In only a matter of minutes, you have been trespassed upon.
In this example your resume has been swiped from your PC. It could have been
a private memo from a superior, or any other personal information. It does
not take long to extract almost anything from your personal computer.

What PCSecure would have done in this situation, is as follows:

What the Co-Worker Did: What PCSecure Did for You.
----------------------- ----------------------------------------------
Turned on the PC PCSecure recorded that your machine was turned
on, and marked the date and time.

DIR PCSecure recorded the command, the date and
time it was entered, and the date and time when
the command completed.

CD PERSONAL PCSecure recorded the command, the date and
time it was entered, and the date and time when
the command completed.

DIR/W PCSecure recorded the command, the date and
time it was entered, and the date and time when
the command completed.

COPY RESUME.DOC A: PCSecure recorded the command, the date and
time it was entered, and the date and time when
the command completed.

Turned off the PC The recorded session was closed.

In simple terms, PCSecure tracked the entire "break-in" from start to finish.

Other ShareWare Products:

PCSecure......... PCSecure is a complete Personal Computer WatchDog.
PCSecure keeps track of every single command typed
at your keyboard, without being noticed.

The primary purpose of PCSecure is to monitor your
personal computer while unattended. If you would
like to document unauthorized access to your computer,
then PCSecure is for You!

PCLock........... PCLock is a Personal Computer Security System.
PCLock allows access to your computer through the use
of a password.

PCLock cannot be broken by pressing Ctrl-C or other
common Break Keys. Once installed, PCLock controls
all access to your computer.

Just Announced! PCSecure Version 2.0

What can Version 2.0 do that 1.0 cannot?

PCSecure 2.0 can not only track an intruder on your
machine, but can actually guard your files at the
directory level. So when that vagabond enters your
machine certain areas can be "hidden" from view.

PCSecure 2.0 has the ability to screen DOS commands,
and restrict the use of some or all commands, as defined
by you. For Example, you could password protect the
FORMAT command, so that no one could accidentally
reformat your harddrive without knowing the password!

If you are sensitive to the type of information that is kept on your
personal computer, whether at home or at work, then PCSecure and PCLock
were made for YOU!

Technical Support Information:

Included in this Shareware product are two programs:

1) LOG.EXE

This program is written for any IBM PC/Clone and has been
tested on 8088/80286/80386sx/80386 class machines.

This program will consume approximately 80K of memory when
running.

2) VIEWLOG.EXE

This program is written for any IBM PC/Clone and has been
tested on 8088/80286/80386sx/80386 class machines. It has
also been tested on the following monitor configurations.

Color - CGA, EGA, VGA
Monochrome - No Graphics Card
Monochrome - Hercules Graphics Card*

* Note, on the Hercules Graphics Card, the text shows up underlined.
This is because of the color set-up that we have chosen for the
color machines. It may be more pleasant for viewing the log file
to just use the TYPE | MORE command on the file C:\UTIL\DOS.LOG.
