Written By Dave Chamber

**** W A R N I N G ****

THIS DISINFECTOR MAY DAMAGE EXE FILES. PLEASE READ THE
FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
DISINFECTING THE JERUSALEM VIRUS CAN BE COMPLEX.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU CONTACT MCAFEE ASSOCIATES
FOR DISINFECTION ADVICE BEFORE YOU BEGIN.

M-JRUSLM.ARC contains three programs that remove the Jerusalem
virus from infected programs and repair the infected programs. The
three programs are:

M-J -Removes the virus from hard disks.
M-JFA -Removes the virus from floppy disks that are
inserted into the system's A drive
M-JFB -Removes the virus from floppy disks that are
inserted into the system's B drive.

To utilize these programs, do the following:

1.Execute the appropriate program. No operands are
required.
2.The program will scan all files on the selected disk for
traces of infection. (The hard disk version will begin
with the C drive, and then automatically continue with
any other drives attached to the system).
3.If an infected program is found, a message will be
displayed, indicating the name of the infected file.
4.Respond "Y" to disinfect the file.
5. Continue the process for the entire disk.

NOTE:The Jerusalem virus may infect EXE files multiple
times. If this has occurred, then "Y" must be
entered multiple times for the infected program.
M-J will continue to flag the file for each
infection occurrence.

PRECAUTIONS:

The M-J disinfector is successful in removing the Jerusalem
virus in virtually all instances. However, it will destroy, on the
average, one EXE file in ten during the disinfection attempt. It
will not harm COM files. It is recommended that every infected
program be executed after the disinfection process. Programs that
have been disabled during the disinfection process will not
execute.
The Jerusalem virus is a memory resident virus. After the
hard disk has been cleaned, the virus may still be resident in
memory. Power down the system immediately after disinfection to
remove the virus from memory. Reboot from the hard disk or from
a clean, write protected floppy. Ensure that all floppy diskettes
that have come in contact with the infected system are disinfected
prior to re-use of the diskettes.

REGISTRATION:

The M-J programs are distributed as shareware. Registration
is required. To register, send $15 and your name, address and
phone number to:
