IOLITE.COM, downloaded from a BBS, uses red and green color blocks in
columns 79 and 78 of row 1 on a color crt to show disk activity. Although
it checks for monitor type in its init code, it does not work on mono
cards/monitors because the attributes red and green do not show up on
these. The attributes would have to be white for an indicator to show on
a mono card/crt combination. This version was set up so that drives A, B,
C, and D, show green, and any higher-lettered drives show in red.
IOLITE.ASM was generated from the original .COM file.
IOLITE2.COM is a modification which automatically works on both types
of crts/boards (if both are present). The 'snow-killer' routines have
been removed from this version because most color cards will not require
them, and because the disk io indicator is more likely to light up fully
especially when doing io to ramdisks. The io indicators are now green for
drives A and B, cyan for C and D, and red for E and above. Also, all
indicators are shown in column 79 of row 1 on the crt display. This version
also requires less resident ramspace.
NOTE: IOLITE will not work with a ramdisk which has been installed AFTER
IOLITE. IOLITE should be installed AFTER any RAMDISKS.
