Patching FoxPro

Patches are currently available for the Development Package and the
help files. The patches for the Distribution Kit will be made available
later this week.

Before you patch your Development Package, determine the date of your
FoxPro product. To determine this date, type ? VERS(1) in the Command
window. One of two dates will be returned - Jul 12 91 or Jul 19 91
(Jul 19 91 will be returned if you applied the first patch).

To patch a Development Package dated Jul 12 91, you need to download
one of the four Development Package patch files:

PRO1.EXE - Single-user FoxPro patch
PROX1.EXE - Single-user Foxpro (X) patch
PROL1.EXE - FoxPro/LAN patch
PROLX1.EXE - FoxPro/LAN (X) patch

To patch a Development Package dated Jul 19 91, you need to download
one of the four Development Package patch files:

PRO2.EXE - Single-user FoxPro patch
PROX2.EXE - Single-user Foxpro (X) patch
PROL2.EXE - FoxPro/LAN patch
PROLX2.EXE - FoxPro/LAN (X) patch

The patch files must be in the same directory as the product to be
patched.

Warning:

Currently, you cannot patch a Development Package that has had a Distribution Kit. This is only temporary. Soon you will be able
to patch a Development Package that has a Distribution Kit installed.
Instead, you must reinstall the Development Package from the disks
supplied to you, and follow the directions below.

There are 3 steps to patch the Development Package:

1. If you have installed a copy of the FoxPro Distribution Kit,
reinstall the Development Package. Do not install any
optional pieces (such as the Distribution Kit) at this time.

2. Patch the Development Package. To do this, be sure you've
downloaded the appropriate patch file(s) from CompuServe. The
patch file(s) should be in the same directory as the
Development Package.

3. To start the patch process, type in the patch file name.
For example:

PRO1
or
PRO2

Warning:

If you are running a DOS version prior to DOS 3.0, you need to type in
the patch file name followed by a space, and the name again with a
.EXE extension, as in these examples below:

PRO1 PRO1.EXE
or
PRO2 PRO2.EXE

Once you have patched your Development Package, you can reinstall your
Distribution Kit.

You can also patch your help files. Use the Filer or a DOS DIR command
to determine the date of your help files (FOXHELP.DBF and FOXHELP.FPT).
The help file patch file must be in the same directory as the help files.

To patch help files dated 7/12/91, download this patch file:

To patch your help files, type the help file patch file name:

HELP1
or
HELP2

Self-extracting files are now available to update the sample
applications and programs included with FoxPro:

ORG.EXE Updates the ORGANIZER application

GEN.EXE Updates the GENMENU and GENSCRN menu and screen
generation programs

DRIVER.EXE Updates the GENPD printer driver application and
its supporting files

Copy the appropriate self-extracting file into the directory that
FoxPro is installed in, then type the name of the file. For example,
to update the ORGANIZER application, type

ORG -d -o

These self-extracting update files assume that these applications
and programs are installed in the default directories created
during the FoxPro installation. The appropriate directory structures
are built into the self-extracting update files.
