TinyHost is a small, personal-sized host program for IBM PC's
or compatibles. It is designed to permit logging onto one's
computer from a remote site, without having to install a full-
fledged Bulletin Board program. To this end, many BBS features
are not implemented - TinyHost is not intended to compete with
such programs.
Some of the features of TinyHost V1.30 are:
1) Supports 300 to 9600 baud operation with Hayes(tm)
compatible modems, COM1 - COM4.
2) Supports XModem, XModem/CRC, and 1K-XModem (sometimes
called YModem) file transfer protocols for uploads and downloads.
3) On-line viewing of a text file on the host system.
4) Supports a ringback mode so that a phone line that is
normally dedicated to voice communcations can also be used for
data transfers.
5) Supports user passwords to prevent unauthorized people
from logging onto the system.
6) TinyHost's executable file is less than 70K, and the
program requires less than 120K of memory to run in.
Consequently, TinyHost can even be run from the smallest of PC's!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
TinyHost has been released in ZIP form, utilizing the
Authenticity Verification option. When un-Zipping the file
THOST130.ZIP, the following line should appear after the un-
Zipping process is complete:
Authentic files Verified! # JBC818 BRUCE KROBUSEK
This ensures that none of the TinyHost files have been tampered
with.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
As released, TinyHost consists of the following files:
THOST130.EXE - The executable file. The 130 refers to the
version number of the program (V1.30).
TINYHOST.DOC - A printer-ready manual for TinyHost. Just use
the DOS PRINT command.
TINYHOST.WEL - A sample welcome file for use with TinyHost.
HISTORY.TXT - The release history of TinyHost.
