Protocol Performance Results
by Ken Goosens, 22 July 1988

Conclusions:
(1) Xmodem is comparatively slow.
(2) at 1200 baud the fastest protocol is Windowed Xmodem
(3) at 2400 baud there is not a significant speed difference
between Ymodem, 1K-Xmodem, and Zmodem.
(4) the internal implementation in RBBS of Ymodem(1K Xmodem)
ranks very high in performance.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
