Metro 1.0
This program will display on the screen the area and state for a given
Washington DC Metro area telephone exchange.
Usage is: metro nnn
where nnn is any valid Washington DC Metro area telephone exchange.
Along with the area as listed in the first few pages of the telephone
book, the program tells you if the exchange is one of the "nearby" exchanges
which does not have full local calling to the entire Metro area. It will
also tell you if the exchange is covered by the new "Caller ID" service being
provided by Bell Atlantic as a part of their "IQ" Services.
Instead of entering an exchange, entering "all" or "ALL" (without the
quotes) will list all exchanges known to the program. Redirection is
supported, so entering "metro all >exchange.txt" will create a text file
named exchange.txt containing all DC Metro area exchanges.
As exchanges change or the Caller ID service adds more exchanges, I will
release updated versions of this program. I hope there are some of you out
there who will find this program useful.
This program is being provided as good-old, honest-to-goodness public
domain software. Please don't send me your money. Disclaimer: If you can
find a way to hurt yourself with this program, don't blame me; it's not my
fault anyway.
If you have any particular thoughts on the program, my Compuserve ID
number is 72200,2527.
