Complete C source code to GNU Perl version 4.0 patch level 35
Perl is a programming language similar to Awk but more versatile
and more powerful. It is interpreted and development can proceed
very quickly. It's power lies in its regular expression parser, and
a Perl program of a few lines can be comparable to a C program of
many thousands of lines. That being said, Perl bears a resemblance
to C in its syntax. If you have a little familiarity with C, you
can be writing Perl programs within an hour of building Perl.
This archive contains the C source code to Perl. It has build
configurations for many systems including Unix, OS/2, MS-DOS,
VMS, Atari, Amiga, and others. To extract this archive you must
obtain a version of "tar" for your system. Then enter the command:
tar xvf perl4035.tar
Read the docs for configuration information. Questions about Perl
can be directed to Usenet's comp.lang.perl conference. Enjoy.
