Welcome to the ARTOOL. Designed with the latest Object Oriented techniques it advances the state of the art of graphic code generators. To use it, simply move the mouse cursor to the graphic object you want to add to the graphic window. Then press the INSERT key. Move the object using the mouse. Press the ESCAPE key to "drop" the graphic, or press the left mouse button. Then you can change the color and other attributes of the object by "clicking" on any of the buttons at the bottom of the screen.
To obtain more specific help click on the HELP pulldown menu at the top of the screen.

ARTOOL is intended for serious TurboC or Borland C graphics programmers who whish to do away with the hours of tedious compile ,link, and test of graphic routines. Now, you can create complex graphics using ARTOOL without writing a single line of code - ARTOOL will write the code for you.

ARTOOL will work on EGA/VGA compatible systems with at least 250k of system memory.
ARTOOL itself allows up to 100 graphics. For a polygon only 100 vertices are allowed.

To add a LINE "click" the mouse on the LINE button (on the left side of the screen). Then press the insert key. A LINE graphic will appear - to change the length of the line press the right mouse button and the end of the line will follow the mouse cursor. To go back to moving the line press the right mouse button again. To "drop" the line press the left mouse botton.
To change the lines attributes (color) "click" on the color button at the bottom of the screen.
To add a POLYGON "click" the mouse on the POLYGON button (on the left side of the screen). Then press the insert key. A polygon triangle graphic will appear - to change the polygon press the right mouse button and the mouse cursor will move to one of the vertices. At this point you can move the vertice. To move to the next vertice press the right mouse button untill you reach the vertice you want to move. To insert another vertice press CONTROL and INSERT keys (at the same time). To delete a vertice press the delete key.
To change the polygon's attributes (color, mode (ie. solid/unsolid), pattern) "click" on the color button at the bottom of the screen.
To add an ARC "click" the mouse on the ARC button (on the left side of the screen). Then press the insert key. A ARC graphic will appear - to change the radius of the arc press the right mouse button and the radius of the arc will follow the mouse cursor. To go back to moving the arc press the right mouse button again. To "drop" the arc press the left mouse botton.
To change the arc attributes (color, begin and end angle) "click" on the color button at the bottom of the screen.
To add text "click" the mouse on the TEXT button (on the left side of the screen). Then press the insert key. A TEXT graphic will appear. To "drop" the text press the left mouse botton.
To change the text attributes (color,font,text,mode(background on/off),size) "click" on the attribute buttons at the bottom of the screen.
To add a RECTANGLE "click" the mouse on the RECTANGLE button (on the left side of the screen). Then press the insert key. A RECTANGLE graphic will appear - to change the size of the rectangle press the right mouse button and the end of the rectangle will follow the mouse cursor. To go back to moving the rectangle press the right mouse button again. To "drop" the rectangle press the left mouse botton.
To change the rectangle attributes (color,mode (solid/nonsolid), pattern) "click" on the color button at the bottom of the screen.
To change an existing graphic you must "attach" or "select" the graphic again (ie. if you are not already attached to it). You can do this by moveing the mouse cursor the origin of the graphic. The origin of the graphic is where the mouse cursor was when you moved it. Then, you press the left mouse cursor. Or, you can use the NEXT,PREV,FIRST,LAST buttons (on the left of the screen) to "cycle thru the graphics.
The graphics on the screen on kept in the order you place them on the screen (at least initially). At one point you may whish to move a graphic behind another. To do so, select the graphic and then "drop" it (click the left mouse button or press escape) and the click on the PUSH button. To bring a graphic from behind to the fron, use the POP button.
To generating code click on the "MAKE" pulldown button at the top of the screen. Then select the type of code you want to generate - fragment, function, or program. A fragment will generate the graphic calls only, function will generate a function (called artool()). Program will generate a complete compilable program file.
To save a copy of the graphics you have created use the top of screen FILE pulldown menu and click on "SAVE" or "SAVE AS". Save will save the current graphic in a file called TEST.ART - which you can later retrieve. "Save As" will allow you to specify the file name to save too. Note - saving the graphics is not generating the code - see the MAKE pulldown button.
To duplicate an existing graphic, select it and press the insert key. A duplicate of the graphic will be added after the graphic you selected and the new graphic will be the current selected graphic.
To delete a graphic, attach to it and press the delete key.
