³ Mod Name: AQUA08.MOD Author: AquaMaestro 1@7704 ³
³ Difficulty: Û±±±±±±± Date : 1/2/93 ³
³ Modified: NEWUSER.C ³
³ WWIV Version : 4.22+ ³
³ ³
³ Description : This mod will hang up on new users who abort the ³
³ NEWUSER.MSG. I tried a number of variations on the ³
³ way it hangs up; my CoSysop and I both liked this ³
³ one. It's easy to change, so you can pretty much ³
³ do it any way you like. ³

Step 1:

Back up your source. I don't care what your excuse is.

Step 2:

Load up your NEWUSER.C, and run a search for "SYSTEM.MSG". That should
put you here: Just make the changes, and that's it.

Key:
/*==*/ - Existing line
/*++*/ - Add this line
/*%%*/ - Change this line

/*==*/ if (!hangup) {
/*==*/ if (incom) {
/*==*/ if (printfile("SYSTEM.MSG"))
/*==*/ sl1(0,get_stringx(1,27));
/*%%*/ if (printfile("NEWUSER.MSG")) { /* Add the "{" */
/*==*/ sl1(0,get_stringx(1,28));
/*++*/ hangup=1;
/*++*/ }
/*==*/ }
/*==*/ input_ansistat();
/*==*/ input_name();

Step 3:

There is no step 3. Compile and enjoy.

Disclaimer:

If this mod does something really horrible, or small furry golf balls start
growing out of your desk, waking you up at 3:00am and sqeaking at you about
the political debates in Mongolia - it may be my fault! But you can't do
anything about it!

Note:

This mod is ego-ware; meaning that you feed my ego, not my wallet. If you
use this mod, send me some mail, saying, "I used your mod!" or "I already
had a mod like that!" or "I already had a mod BETTER than that!" or "I keep
getting woken up by furry golf balls who want to talk about the political
situation in Asia! Help!"

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
