Version 2.2
Written By, Brad Pierce
(C)1990 Central Computing Co., Inc.
Foreword
~~~~~~~~
Please note, there was a defect with the sound NOT coming out on some
computer systems in Version 2.1... Version 2.2 has corrected this problem.
Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The "Page 'Em Door" was created as an alternative way for users to page
you, the SysOp of the BBS. This way, in case of an emergency, your users
can get a hold of you. Also, your users can contact you while you are a
few rooms away where the regular page bell would not reach.
Reqd. Equipment
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* IBM or Compat. Computer
* 256k Ram
* PCBoard Version 14.x BBS Software (14.0, 14.1, 14.2, 14.5 BETA)
* Approx 45k Left On Your Hard Drive Or Disk
Setup
~~~~~
1) Copy ALL "Page 'Em" Door Files into a directory called "PAGEEM".
Here are the files that the .ZIP file should contain:
PAGEEM.EXE <-- Main Page 'Em Door Program File
PAGEEM.CFG <-- Configuration File For DOOR
SYSOP.DIS <-- SysOp Disclaimer (ASCII Screen)
SYSOPG.DIS <-- SysOp Disclaimer (ANSI Screen)
PAGEEM.DOC <-- Page 'Em DOCS - This File You Are Reading
PAGEEM. <-- Batch File To Run the Page 'Em Door
You will also need to copy the following files into the "PAGEEM" directory:
BRUN30.EXE <-- Run time module for QuickBasic V3.0
DORPCH35.EXE <-- DOOR Patch Version 3.5 Reference File
2) Use your favorite Text Editor (Such as DOS's EDLIN, Etc.), and
edit the file "PAGEEM.CFG".
Here is the format for the PAGEEM.CFG File:
Line 1 --> Name/Location of PCBOARD.SYS File
Line 2 --> BBS Name
Line 3 --> SysOp's First Name
Line 4 --> SysOp's Last Name
As an example, below is my PAGEEM.CFG file:
Line 1 --> D:\pcb\pcboard.sys
Line 2 --> The Falcon's Lair BBS!
Line 3 --> Brad
Line 4 --> Pierce
3) Again, get your favorite text editor out, and edit the file
"PAGEEM." to your specifications. This is the batch file
that will be used to start the Page 'Em Door.
Here is the format for the PAGEEM. file:
Line 1 --> Switch to Drive Containing the PAGEEM
Subdirectory
Line 2 --> Switch to PAGEEM Subdirectory
Line 3 --> Run Page 'Em With PAGEEM.CFG as the Config. File
Line 4 --> Return to your PCBoard Directory
Line 5 --> Load PCBoard
As an example, below is my PAGEEM. file:
D:
CD\PAGEEM
PAGEEM PAGEEM.CFG
CD\PCB
BOARD
4) Copy the PAGEEM. file into your PCBoard Root Directory (Ex: D:\PCB)
5) Take out your favorite ANSI/ASCII edit (such as THEDRAW) and load the
file SYSOPG.DIS into it. Change the saying to whatever you like.
After your alterations...
SAVE the ANSI (Color) version of it as SYSOPG.DIS
SAVE the ASCII (Mono) version of it as SYSOP.DIS
6) Go into your PCBSETUP program and add "PAGEEM" to your List Of DOORS
that you have available.
7) Edit your DOORS and DOORSG screen to list the "Page 'Em Door" when the
user is looking though your list of DOORS to run.
If you have followed these directions EXACTLY, you should have no problem
setting up this DOOR.

Thank you for REGISTERING
The Page 'Em DOOR!
Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
