Available Commands:
Below is a list of all the available commands for Interactive Chat. This
will give you an idea of exactly what the commands that are available can do
for you and your users. This might also be a good file to make available for
your users to read or download so that they will have a better understanding of
what commands they have to use.
First a quick description of what a "/" (slash) command is. A slash
command allows you to do an action on your screen and have it not be sent to
the other users, in most cases.
/? - Display the Main Menu...........Display the main menu with all of the
available commands and functions to
the user. Other valid commands for
to get this menu are: /MENU.
/C - Change Chat Area................Allows you to change your current chat
session. Valid options range from 1
(which is always a public session) to
255. Only the users who are within
your current chat session are able to
hear you when you type something on
the screen that's not a "/" command.
/DATE - Time and Date Info...........Some callers might want a fast way
to check out the time and date of
this BBS. Also provided are other
time statistics for the users. Other
commands which will invoke this
information are: /TIME
/G - Goodbye - log off...............Quit chat and end this call by logging
off of the system.
/H - Bring up extended help..........Displays a help file. This help file
contains all of the information about
the commands available to you while
within Interactive Chat.
/INITIAL - Show Title................Display the initial welcome screen to
the user. This is nice if the user
wants to see what the welcome screen
looks like, again.
/INV - Private Chat Area Invite......You can invite others into your
private chat session with this command.
You will first have to be in a session
which allows you to make it private
(i.e. 2-255). For more information on
creating a private chat session see the
/PRI command.
/MENU - Display the Main Menu........Display the main menu with all of the
available commands and functions to
the user. Other valid commands for
to get this menu are: /?.
/PUB - Make Chat Area Public.........Chat Area 1 is always public! If
you're in a conference which is allowed
to be made private (2-255) and is
private then you can make it public by
typing this command. For more
information on private sessions see the
/PRIVATE slash command.
/PRI - Make Chat Area Private........If you are in a Chat Area other than 1
then you can make it PRIVATE. It
is easier to wait until everyone
that you want in your Chat Area to get
get into it, then make it private,
otherwise you will have to invite
anyone else on a person by person
basis. They can request that you
invite them by using the /s,# MES
command to send you a request.
/Q - Quit InterNode Chat.............Quit Interactive Chat and return to the
main part of the bulletin board system.
/STAT - Statistics for User..........This will provide a two page record
of various statistics for the user.
Other valid commands to invoke your
user statistics are: STAT.
/TIME - Time and Date Info...........Some callers might want a fast way
to check out the time and date of
this BBS. Also provided are other
time statistics for the users. Other
commands which will invoke this
information are: /DATE
/TOP - Change Chat Area's topic......Changes the displayed topic of your
current chat area session.
/W - Who is in the Chat Areas........Shows who's online and in the
Interactive Chat sessions.
/WHO - Who is on all lines...........Shows everyone who is on the BBS,
