No Registrations Accepted On Scraps of Paper...I WONT File Them!!!!!!!

HYPER-TAPE DOOR Version 3.1b allows you to use almost any Tape Drive
as a TAPE ROM. Adding megabytes of file space instantly! OFFLINE
TAPE DOOR turns your tape drive into some well needed convenient storage
space and better than that...IT WORKS...most restore times take less than 1
minute! (depending on tape size and number of volumes)
The door also has more than adequate security features. With proper usage
of the VOLUME files you can control whether or not a file, multiple files or
complete Tape Volumes are out of reach of all or some users...so the whole
tape does not have to be committed to the BBS!
HYPER-TAPE Uses Less Than 100 K-Bytes To Run. You Should Have No
Difficulties running In Small Environments. Keep In Mind That the Executable
File will Spawn or "Shell" to your Tape Software To Do The Actual Restore.
The Door Will Execute Under DesqView BUT Most Tape Software Will Not
Run Under DesqView.

NOTE: I Would Like To Take This Moment To Note That All Copyrights
Belong To Their Respective Owners!

SUPPORT: I can be reached via RIME (RELAY-NET) in the SYSOPS or
COMMON Conferences or through my BBS. At 1200-14400 Baud

Time (See Above)
Any Comments/suggestions are more than welcome....

PKLITE COMMPRESSION: You May Compress The TAPEDOOR.EXE File With PKLITE

SETUP:
Setup is not complicated! The most time consuming part is backing-up your
files if you have not done so already. Below is a list of steps that you
should follow EXPLICITLY to ensure that HYPER-TAPE DOOR works properly
the FIRST time! (Believe me I hate DOC's as much as you do so I will make
this as short as possible! )

Step 1 Copy Files:
-------------
Copy the ALL files included in this .ZIP into your TAPE directory.
FILES that are needed by HYPER-TAPE DOOR are:
Required Files:
------------
TAPEDOOR.EXE HYPER TAPE .EXE file
HYPRTAPE.INS ONLINE instructions for Door Users (Edit as you wish)
TAPEDOOR.CFG **Sample TAPEDOOR CONTROL FILE *See Below!!!
VOLUME.CFG **Sample Volume CONTROL FILE *See Below!!!
------------
Other Files: (Vary With Configuration)
------------
DOOR **Sample DOOR Volume list file. *See Below!!!
GAMES **Sample Games Volume list file. *See Below!!!
DISK **Sample DISK Volume list file. *See Below!!!
DOOR.SYS **Sample DOOR.SYS File ** Use To Run In LOCAL MODE
------------
** Sample Documents provided as EXAMPLES ONLY and should be altered or
Deleted after reading Documentation!
TAPE BACKUP SYSTEM IF You Have Trouble consult the examples in this
ZIP file.

Usually I have No Problem with providing voice support.

IMPORTANT: ALSO COPY either DSZ.COM or DSZ.EXE into Your Tape Directory.
or GSZ renamed To DSZ In Your Tape Directory.

Step 2 Create the DOOR Batch file
----------------------------
If you do not know how to install a DOOR in your BBS you should
consult your Bulletin Board System's documentation. Other than that ALL
commands to start TAPEDOOR.EXE and tell it which BBS and comm port it
is running on are passed on the command line. The Door SHOULD be started
from its default directory!

EXAMPLE BATCH FILE

cd\tape
tapedoor.exe (w/ commandline parameters *See Below!!)
cd\pcb
board

*COMMAND LINE PARAMETERS:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PCBOARD
TAPEDOOR.EXE C:\PCB\PCBOARD.SYS 1

COMM PORT 1 2 or 0

PATH and NAME of PCBOARD.SYS file
HYPER-TAPE DOOR .EXE FILE

OR Set DOOR.SYS Flag To "Y" In DOORS SETUP And Use

TAPEDOOR.EXE C:\PCB\DOOR.SYS

PATH and NAME of DOOR.SYS file
HYPER-TAPE DOOR .EXE FILE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOOR.SYS Users!
TAPEDOOR.EXE C:\BBS\DOOR.SYS

PATH and NAME of DOOR.SYS file
HYPER-TAPE DOOR .EXE FILE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
WILDCAT! Users!
TAPEDOOR.EXE C:\WC\CALLINFO.BBS 1

COMM PORT 1 2 or 0

PATH and NAME of CALLINFO.BBS file
HYPER-TAPE DOOR .EXE FILE

OR

WILDCAT 3.02 Users Use DOOR.SYS file

TAPEDOOR.EXE C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1\DOOR.SYS

COMM PORT 1 2 or 0

PATH and NAME of CALLINFO.BBS file
HYPER-TAPE DOOR .EXE FILE

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

* If You Have DOOR.SYS or PCBOARD.SYS or CALLINFO use them.
Do Not Rely On GENERIC.SYS I currently Do Not Support
GENERIC.SYS with this release. DSZ Downloading
requires a COM PORT and there have been a FEW reported
cases ehere the com port gets lost with generic sys.
Try it if you like the only Resulting error, at worst,
will be that DSZ is passed a faulty Com Port and will return
to the TAPEDOOR.EXE file

** If You Are Running On A NON-STANDARD COM PORT CALL MY BBS FOR A SPECIAL
VERSION OF TAPEDOOR.EXE

Step 3 Create Restore Directory
--------------------------
Create a DIRECTORY for your files to be restored to. THIS IS ONE OF THE
MOST IMPORTANT STEPS! CREATE A NEW DIRECTORY! This Directory Will Be Your
DESTINATION Directory For All Restored Files.
You Should Delete All Files From This Directory Durring your BBS Event using
utility Such as DELF.COM that does prompt for a "Y" when you use
Wildcards to delete files.
On My BBS it is called C:\OFFLINE\ and my TAPE.EXE files are in C:\MTN_TAPE\
PCBOARD USERS
Add the directory to THE TOP (LINE ONE) of your DOWNLOAD PATH file
(in PcBoard this is your DLPATH.LST file) If you do not add this directory
to the TOP of the DOWNLOAD PATH LIST then it may result in the message
"0 Length file found aborting file transfer" being diplayed when the user
attempts to download a restored file.

Step 4 EDIT TAPEDOOR.CFG file
-------------------------
C:\TAPE\TAPE RESTORE #% C:\DESTINATION\PATH\% <-Command Line
BBS NAME <-BBS Name
0000000 <-Register Code
C:\DESTINATION\PATH\ <-DSZ DLD Path

Name Them The Original PATH of where your Files Were On Your

"C:\FILES\GAMES" (No Quotes). This Saves Potential Confusion When
Interfacing with your Tape Software.
